Playing with my new best friend

was out on the ice the other day when I saw this little fluff coming running up at me outta nowhere

He stopped before me and closed his eyes as if to show me that he wasn't mean

He slowly walked by without a care or a worry, but still keep his own lookout scanning the open area ahead

He turned back around and we each locked our gaze on the other, appraising each other's character, deciding if we might be a good fit

He sat at my feet so I shared a little beef jerky snack with the beast

with a sigh of contentment, he lay himself at my feet

knowing I could be trusted, he closed his eyes and promptly fell asleep

Of course he followed me home

and now he's my best friend

I really need to adjust the lighting on the fur shader ... always a bit too bright. The "flat fur" looks better curently ... imho

I've really been enjoying having him around.  The coloring can be a little brightlike you said.  I've been trying to get a decent balance on the reddish/orange scale so I'm constantly adjusting it.  The red end of the spectrum tends to be very red and the orange side practically glows but there's a happy medium.  I really love the two tones giving my new buddy "socks."  That's actually what I name him, "Socks."  Inspired by "Two Socks" from the movie, Dances with  Wolves. 
Any chance you could make the mod leave footprints?  maybe somehow shrink the wolf print down to about 25% of regular size?  if and when you can find the time to get around to it.  Until then, thank you for this fine enhancement to the game!

I do belive the fox can be "programmed" to do some tasks, although I haven't used him as such.   I just let him tag along for the most part.  The fox does get in the way sometimes making it difficult to navigate, just like a dog might do in real life.  But fortunately I can also step on him and walk over him but only when he is laying down.
I must say, when he lays down to sleep by the fire, it's the most adorable in game moment that a player can have!

Yep. It can fetch items and hunt rabbits on command.

You can use the teleport button multiple times, to shift the fox around. Or you can give a order to fetch something, so it walks away. Will probably add something to push the fox out of the way in the future.

I do believe that is an option with this mod. The fox won't die from starvation if you don't feed them however, it just won't be able to do certain task for you until you feed them.

yeah, there is a lot more to it that what my pics show.  I haven't begun to explore all the things the fox can do, but there's a lot.  He can fetch and he does get hungry
if you turn that on.  I just like having him around.  Now if I could only get him to stay in one of the empty dog houses, that would be awesome!

The fox does not get hungry anymore in the current release.

I've tried it, didn't work out. It didn't add anything to the gameplay except being annoying. And thats pretty much the opposite of what the mod should be Feeding for immersion purposes is still there though.

at least the fox doesn't just sit there and stare a you with drool dropping from his jowls like my two dogs irl do...
