v.200 Part of a blood trail was missing

I don't know if it is a bug or a feature, but today I hunted a deer and because I didn't kill it on the spot, I followed the blood trail. The blood drops were bigger with each step, but after a while I lost track, because part of the trail was missing. I found the start again and it happens to me once more. The blood trail ended and pretty far from it I saw a dead dear. The trail behind me was still visible and wind was not blowing.
