Black screen + encumbered on exiting buildings

So far this has occurred to me twice, once in Camp Office and once in Trapper's Homestead. Upon exiting the building 1) the character says once of the encumbered voiceovers (when, before exiting, I was definitely below the pack weight limit) 2) the screen goes totally black and nothing can be interacted with. I can't bring up the rifle, light a match/flare/lantern, or even bring up the main menu when whacking escape. Basically I lose the save Running Windows 7, Intel Core i7, nVidia Geforce GTX 660M. Don't know what procs the bug, can't repro. Thanks guys!
