Having not known this piece of Canadian vocabulary, I never heard the line correctly. Yesterday it sort of just clicked. Muskrat? Masthead? No, muskeg

ah, yes, that ahha moment when you finally actually understand the lyrics to a song.  I've been singing em wrong for years apparently! 
Now I'm gonna have to go listen to a little Gordon Lightfoot.  hadn't heard that name for years!
