Nice :) You know I didn't think I would like this event. I never got a chance to play 4DON so I was disappointed it wouldn't be on this season, as I was going to have time to play this year.

However, I loved my first run. I had a few, very close calls and got lucky with my gear. I'm looking forward to making another run.20201030002846_1.thumb.jpg.f72f95a478de68ac870b3e9783468283.jpg

Well my first run ended in DP. I went from Crumbling Highway with the walker behind me. Emerged in DP with the walker right in fron of me. Headwind and nowhere to run. I am glad there is auto-walk key. I pretty much had to keep walking.

Had to do 2 runs, because I didn't realise the first note doesn't count in the beginning and I had a bad route from Broken railroad to Desolation Point.  Died inside the cave between Crumbling Highway and DP. Then I understood how the THING actually moves and it came thought the wall straight at me. Well that was fine, got 4 notes on my first run and would have probably died anyway with 5 notes with me at DP if I would have got there.

Second run was a bit hard but exciting. Didn't search for coffee and had no stims at any point, but found 3 energy drinks and 2 helped a lot with ropes on Mountain Town.
Started from Desolation Point - CH - next was Ravine and Mystery Lake - then Forlorn Muskeg and to Mountain Town and then back to Forlorn Muskeg and from there to Broken Railroad where I had my last meal inside the building and waited for my death. I  used over there, while waiting, my fog remover mark and when I had last minute with toxic mist I was devoured by the Demon because I was playing around with it inside the building and it still got too close even stayed inside the safe zone in the end. Altouhght I'm not totally sure if it was the mist what killed me. Anyways I died scared and alone next to the fire barrel inside the maintenance shed.

I think 6 notes is pretty easily doable, but if you speedrun and wanna plan your routes well and find ebough of those spray paint cans I think you might get all the notesl. Not sure if I'm into that. And btw you can easily make your game last longer in real time if you just sit by the green fire doing nothing or use spray cans inside houses and use ward markings before you need to escape to the next area because of the toxic fog.

Still hope these events would get added in the game at some later point, maybe after all the episodes are out. Would be nice to play these later also outside of the events. But this was fun and gets blood pressure a bit high at times when your character is exhausted and you need to run for your life from the GREAT OLD ONE.

Behold, the final minutes of my survivor.

I had only one take to do this. I wanted to capture a feeling of desperation as the survivor is fleeing the Darkwalker, only to be doomed by a destroyed bridge, blocking his path. As the Darkwalker approaches, he lights his flare, looking for an alternate route, but the cliff edge is too steep to traverse.

The Darkwalker approaches, and the survivor gets desperate. He thinks maybe he can hide in the broken down car on the bridge (but then I realized that might interfere with the death cinematic, so I left the vehicle). It's no use. Terror grips him, and he flees the vehicle.

Briefly he contemplates jumping to his death, dying on his own terms and taking his own life (but again, that would prevent the cool kill cinematic). He turns, and in a last desperate act, he flings the flare at the Darkwalker... but there is nothing there. No form, no physical structure. Just an ethereal howling, and the nearing footsteps drawing closer, and closer.

Then we see the footfalls of the Darkwalker on the bridge. The survivor is lifted off the ground. The Darkwalker reveals itself, and then the Survivor is no more...

(Incidentally, Mark Meer's voice acting in this event is fantastic)

I'd say I could have easily doubled that, if I felt like camping out at region exits to wait out the fog while using wards. I found so many paint cans and coffee/stims/Go!'s that this ended up being almost too easy! Luck of the draw, I guess. I ended up waiting for him in the lighthouse in DP, which is also where I started.

I was pretty happy with this run... I don't know if I will try again at getting all the pages or not.

Here is the short version of what my route was (including the times I had to backtrack):
ML > FM > BR > FM > MT > HRV > MT > ML > PV > TWM > PV > CH > DP > CH > (Died at Raven Falls Ravine on the way to) BI

That was intense! I had already gotten both badges, but I couldn't leave well enough alone. So I tried for all 10 and I got so close! If I had 1 more paint can I think I could have made it. I got to the Ravine so, barely standing because I had to make a mad dash of of CH. and in the Ravine DW starts coming for me and boom...no paint cans. I tried to 'skyrim' down into the ravine to escape him be slipped and fell to me death

I'm still super proud of this run. I never thought I'd get past 7

Decided to try 10/10. Route: DP - CH/CH - PV - TM - PV - WR/ML - RAVINE - BI - FM - BR - FM - MT - HRV. Maximized time on HRV removing fog, after I got all the pages and died from the toxic fog. I was surprised how long it takes to die from the fog, and I also used one emergency stim in the end, but that didn't help a lot, only some silly seconds.

Personally I'm not interested to try maximal surival time challenge because it will get really boring if you just wait on every area before the fog comes in. I had to wait like over 40 minutes after I got all the pages to maximize survival time in the end. But I'm interested if someone tries that, how long can you actually survive?

BTW! I think it would have been cool if you get 10/10 pages and there would be a full story and you realize it's all just a dream and wake up, or something like that. You could actually survive in a survival game by "being good" even if it's a Halloween challenge.

Proof of 10/10 and the last seconds of my characters life on HRV camp.20201105232151_1.thumb.jpg.fa8ada3121b4723fe9626f7ba01f5d15.jpg

I decided to play the event again after the hotfix they did, which for this run, I just focused on getting as much coffee, emergency stims, and energy drinks as I could (So I can unlock the 'Straight To The Heart' feat). I was able to get ~30 coffees, ~7 energy drinks, and 1 emergency stim and used all of them to get closer and closer to getting that badge/feat. I was also able to get 8 pages in this run, which was pretty cool! :)

I had another run. This time I chose "No my fires, no sniffing in any building, no cooking, no repair just walk and get whatever lay on the ground." I broke this rule once. One fire in Ravine saved my Astrid from freezing. Usually I hit autowalk on the point I entered map and let Astrid go to fire. Then sleep and then go to another region. Sometimes I slept over in some building. My path was BR -> FM -> ML -> MTown -> ML -> CH -> DP.

Funny thing. As I was leaving the Mountain Town, the fog hit me. Animals were falling like flies. Unfortunatelly all my food and coffee went down. And it costed me 50% of health.

Again Hinterland. Nice event.DarkWalker02.thumb.jpg.66cf5dab3dddc11630367b7bae359b1b.jpg

Well, I played the event again! (Most likely for the very last time). I was able to get the 'Straight To The Heart' feat, which I went from 20% done on the badge before the Darkwalker event started to fully unlocking the feat. Instead of dying to the Darkwalker in this run, I just decided to jump off a mountain in Mystery Lake (Right by the watchtower). I'm pretty happy and I've played this event around 7 times (Posted 5 of them, including this post, the other 2 were just coffee runs), so I'm set! :)

My first attempt, I chose the random spawn and started in Pleasant Valley. I went to Timberwolf Mountain first, then Coastal Highway, Desolation Point, Mystery Lake, Mountain Town and ended up dying in Hushed River Valley.

The Darkwalker caught me while I was climbing a rope. :hatchet:

My second attempt, I chose to start in Hushed River Valley - didn't want to get caught there again!

I went through Mountain Town to the Forlorn Muskeg, then grabbed the pages from Broken Railroad and Bleak Inlet. Needed to use the fog dispel glyph while making my way back out of BI, because I am still unfamiliar with that region and got slightly lost.

Thankfully had enough time to double back through Forlorn Muskeg without getting caught by the fog. Made it through Mystery Lake, then Pleasant Valley, Timberwolf Mountain, Coastal Highway and finished in Desolation Point.

I collected the final page, then climbed to the top of the lighthouse and fired off 9 of my 12 distress pistol flares into the night before the Darkwalker caught me... :flaregun:

Finished Darkwalker with 10 out of 10 pages. I wish it would save your run details. I didn't save it and I let him kill me in the end to get a nice desktop background XD

uploaded some screens here. did the run in just under 3 hours. Not as fast as some others, but man this was fun.
