Hylander
I think maybe cattails are a little to high in the nutrient values for their weight, in terms of gameplay. Cooked bear meat (which is the best kind of meat there is) is 900 calories per kg. Cattails are really light, and give 200 calories each. Each stalk weighs 50 grams, so you can get 4000 calories out of one kg of cattails (assuming you can find that much).
ChillPlayer
I didn't notice them yet, but TLD is sure becoming more and more a Les Stroud simulator lol. Cattails, mushrooms, plants for medicine, wolves, bears, cabins, air plane crash in northern Canada. All that's missing are moose and you can replay almost every episode that covers colder regions

The_Hawk35
I'm so glad that they chose to make the cattails dual use. I know that I used to use them as tinder all the time.
ChillPlayer
Yes they are a very welcomed addition, might prolong the end game significantly if you didn't pick them up earlier.
Joopsie
Wait..what? You can EAT cattails? I never knew that! I guess growing up and living on a city island, I'm not exposed to much nature in the first place, not that there's a total devoid of nature where I live, we just don't have cattails around my neck of the woods. TLDFAN
Agree. They are great. I like keeping them for eating since you can't eat paper but you can use cattails for both kindling and eating. The whole harvestable gameplay is pretty great. The world is really coming alive.
