Episode Three: Timberwolves. Help!

Recommended Posts

I have been trying so hard to get past the wolf attacks when bringing the survivor back to the shelter. I have three bullets in my revolver and although they do deplete some of the pack morale, it’s never enough. I can’t get past them! Im at the point where Im almost willing to pay someone to do it for me. Someone please help and tell me how to get past this!

Put the survivor down. Find a rock or something else to press your back to. This way timberwolves will be attacking from one side. Try to shoot when you are confident that you will hit the target. 3 bullets were enough to deter them when you hit them. If you hit their head, you have a chance to instakill one, which always stopped their attack.

Another more cheesy option is putting down the survivor and run a longer distance from him/her. There is a chance, that a wolf will attack the survivor and stand still near him/her. Then you will have better chance to shoot the wolf in the head.

Don't shoot the survivor in the head.

Or, revert to a save prior to picking up the survivor, stock up on more revolver rounds and come back and do it later.

Definitely this.  If you complete all the side quests first, you will be much better equipped.  Even on Hardened Survivor, a full sweep of Pleasant Valley prior to advancing the main quest yields an additional revolver, 96 revolver rounds, 4 rifles, 65 rifle cartridges, a flare pistol, and 19 flare shells.  You acquire even more ammo once you can access Signal Hill, and additional flare shells and a flare pistol become available as the main questline progresses.

Just take a break from the main quest and take some time exploring.  It's QUITE worth it.

Second that.  The game doesn't put time pressure on you (which is too bad, because people are dying and that stress would be challenging and interesting) so you might as well stock up before that last survivor run. Took me about 10 revolver shots to kill and get rid of them on HS.
