Exploded rifle?

Did anyone find any significance to the exploded rifle in Molly's house?

I never did, but it seems strange to take the time to add it to the game if there's no pay off down the line. So I'm just wondering if maybe I missed something, or if not; does anyone have any interesting theories?

Maybe husband tried to escape wolf attack and Molly "ensured" he could not.

maybe left over from different version of her story. Her story of her husband's death was she didn't shoot the wolves that were attacking him. Maybe in an earlier version she fired but the weapon was destroyed. Or a different version where she deliberately blocked the barrel so the weapon would explode in her husband's face.

I guess the most probable explanation is ..... why does Molly run around with a bow? You got the revolver, the rifle exploder ... so the bow it is.

she has her own rifle as well. maybe the destroyed rifle is her husbands.
