New Baseline Resource Availability setting

When configuring custom settings for Survival Mode, Low Baseline Resource Availability reduces item spawns to a minimum, but also removes knives, hatchets and revolvers (I think?). The Medium setting reintroduces the possibility of finding a knife etc, but seems to greatly increase item spawns. I would like to have the option of having very low item spawns a la Low Baseline Resource Availability, but there still be a chance of finding a knife, hatchet or revolver. Perhaps the current Low setting could be renamed Very Low, with the Low baseline setting being the same except allowing knives etc.

Any thoughts on this?

I think the game is fine the way it is...  I think we should be grateful that the game is as customizable as it is already... instead of constantly asking for even more.  Folks know that it's likely not very practical for them to make every single aspect and thing in the game optional/adustable, right?

I find it funny that this game is already more customizable and has more ways to vary the experience than a vast majority of other games on the market... but we still have folks clamoring / complaining that the game isn't tailored perfectly to their personal tastes... it's kind of ridiculous.   Remember, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie..."

Did I complain? Also, I'm well aware the developers wouldn't be able to make everything customisable. If everything were customisable it wouldn't be The Long Dark any more. It's not called "Build your own survival sim". However, and I don't know if you've noticed, but this section of the forum is entitled "WISH LIST" with the description "Share your ideas for things you'd like to see added to the game in the future." which might give you a clue as to what you have seen people doing.

I didn't say you did...  only the first part of my previous post was weighing in on your specific idea, and I even made it a point to use general terms.  You stated your opinion, and then I stated mine.  Nothing more.

As for the rest of what I mentioned in my previous post, I wasn't referring to anyone in specifically in the tread or in general really (I even stated that explicitly in my last post)... but the topic reminded me of a wider trend I've noticed in the community, and that's what that last part of my previous post was commenting on.

You did ask for people's thoughts on your idea... and posting on a forum invites conversation.  A person really shouldn't expect that just because something is posted, that everyone is going to have the same point of view they do.  Whether it's a Wish List or not, doesn't mean people can't express opinions about the ideas put forth.

Of course item spawns and availability of knives should be 2 separate settings.
