I don't know, I thought last year's Four Days of Night was rather enjoyable.  I'm sure Hinterland wanted folks to be able to enjoy the experience, so I imagine they didn't want to design it to be so d

There are endless creative ways we can spike the difficulty for ourselves... and since it's a single player game we can play however we want to. 

if memory serves me correctly there is only candy and pie...unless you plan on surviving on just tea and cat tails...

 

and yes I know there are many ways to change the game... I have been at it a very long time... I was wondering in anyone wanted to do anything collectively... as a group... but that's fine... too each their own

...and I was just offering my ideas for you to consider.  I wasn't implying that you weren't familiar with the game.  All of my statements were meant to be encouraging of your idea about using some 'House Rules' to give 4DON a little extra flavor this year.  I'm not sure why you made the assumption you did. 

Also, yes I know that there is only candy and pie (in terms of found food items)... but later on there is wolf meat.  I was offering it as an additional challenge, because you asked us for more ideas...

That's correct. It was the first place I went last year, I was planning to spend the 4DON at the summit, and it was heartbreaking when I counldn't find the rope.

Luckily both crashes was after entering an interior so it saved

Not here, my game is running buttery smooth after the hotfix and update. (Higher-end rig, on Windows 10... you show me your specs, and I'll show you mine. ;) )

You can scavenge venison off pre-placed carcasses, and of course eat wolf meat.  I think 4DON uses Voyageur as a baseline difficulty, so intestinal parasites wouldn't even be a thing.  But yeah no deer hunting, rabbit snaring, or fishing.

I was just playing, and the game did sync when I exited.I can access my entire games library, just seems like the typica Steam Sale (Halloween Sale started today, I think) crash when everyone tries to pile onto the store and see what goodies are there.

 

Just checked, I can still launch the game, and my save is intact. No issues. Only Community (forums) and Store are offline for me (no activity feed- Community, as well).

 

I'd be giving it a try if I were you. Unless you are saying you can't login?

@ThePancakeLady I was under the impression that for some reason Steam had to be up to record the progress we were making in our games, but of course that's not true because you can play offline and the user files are local. Silly me 🤡. I got to play a bit at lunch yay! Going to play after work instead of following my usual routine, 4DoN always throws my schedule out the window lol.

It is off. Its only crashed twice so I don't know what kind of bug I ran into but it's there. It's 100% a game issue, it's inevitable a new update for any game will have bugs. You might not experience it but others will, there is a bug in the code somewhere that makes the game hard crash when entering a building while playing 4don.

Also I discovered a survival bug as well with this new update but the survival bug isn't game breaking. The survival bug isn't a fluke either, I can replicate it 100% of the time I test it

Then you need to file a bug report on the Spport Portal. It isn't hard crashing for everyone, so, it isn't a 100% game code thing, necessarily. Your console may be trying to tell you something, perhaps. If it was 100% game related, my game would hard crash on XBone as well. And it isn't. My daughter is playing 4DoN on it right now. Without issue.

So: https://hinterlandgames.zendesk.com/ is the place you need to go, file a report, and see if they can help you, and others who may be having the same issue, get the game going again. Arguing about it here is not going to get it fixed for you.
