I've killed some more since then and I didn't realize how lucky that first time was I did this too. Trappers, Interloper, maybe like, day 25 and the first moose I'd seen ever, newly crafted bow / lvl 1 archery, boom headshot, down in one.

When the bear walked by I saw the arrow stuck in its right front paw. When he got far enough away I dashed into the house for a good nights sleep, knowing that was a futile shot. Got up the next morning to a beautiful sunny day and looked out to the field and saw the bear lying there - dead. Who'd a thought an arrow in the paw would kill a bear? Any shot that hits wolves, bears or deer will eventually kill them; they will bleed out and die. The moose is the exception. It doesn't bleed out. You have to hit it until it dies right there and then. -t
turtle777
I would consider any bear or moose instant kill with one shot a "lucky" shot when using a revolver. It's less lucky using bow & arrow, and even less lucky using the rifle. -t
Yavind
I was attacked by a bear twice in a row at the end of the whiteout challenge. I had to kill the bear to collect all the required food. Had minimal HP, and I had to use antiseptics, bandages and painkillers and stimulant stick(first time I was attacked -> I loosed my rifle, but I luckly had the revolver. Pew pew with the gun before the bear attacked me the second time) .. then run to a cabin near me in the area to sleep away the damage and to get more HP( I was just a hair straw away from dying) .. ran back to the bear and then it was dead with all my gear .. had to pick up everything, and make a bonfire with the bear before I slaughtered it into meat/food .. then I had to run several rounds back and forth to carry all the food ... to finally melt all the snow into water that I needed, inside the gas station. Three attempts at the challenge then I did ! My heart was pumping! Edited October 15, 2019 by Yavind
jhickie
So, I have a few.. Got this bear mere inches away from the thin ice in DP. I think he was trying to jump in the water and deprive me of my prize! Got this guy pretty easily when he got stuck running through the bed of the truck. Mr. Bear surprised me in CH and I had nowhere to run, but got a lucky headshot. My first one-shot kill on a moose. At least he didn't die this way... Got ambushed by a trio of wolves at Camp Office but dropped them all with one bait. And finally, my first aurora bear kill.
ThePancakeLady
A one-shot bow & arrow kill, on the bear in DP. Was out at night, trying to get to Hibernia. A bit lost in the heavy fog, Hibernia was on my left, I walked right past it. Came around the corner at the rocks, knew where I was, and Old grumpy knew where I was too. Like he was just waiting there for me to show up. Panic shot... and he dropped instantly. I think I nearly passed out, IRL, I could not believe how lucky I had just gotten. I didn't even aim, just let the arrow go. I did take the pelt and my arrow, since I wasn't too cold, and finally knew where I was. Left the rest for the next morning. Thankful that the game doesn't show what a nekkid bear would look like after sitting on the ice all night. Hard for me to believe that was just one month shy of 3 years ago. And I still remember that scare like it was yesterday. (Don't laugh... multiple head traumas in my younger years mean my short-term memory is not what it should be, and I forget stuff fairly quickly, if it doesn't have a big impact on me at the time it happens. This impacted me greatly... I doubt I will ever forget it.) The next morning...
Guest kristaok
I would have to say one of my weirdest kills was I had shot and ended up killing a wolf that had an arrow up his rear.
