jason_scheiner
Accidentally posted this in the "forum feature request" instead of the "game feature request" forum, so here goes, in the correct spot this time...As anyone who's handled firewood without so much as heavy gloves or who performs a repetitive task over and over already knows, when you do something without the tools that make it easier, you risk hurting yourself.I see people posting how, on marathon survival runs, they avoid using tools for some tasks so the tools last longer. In real life, if you try to harvest meat from an animal bare-handed, you might break a nail or get cut by a bone splinter, and it might get infected - or, you might just strain your wrist from tearing so hard for hours.Collecting firewood? A deep splinter can be painful and lead to infection, especially if you can't get out all the wood in your skin.Basically, any time you forego the use of a tool to make a task easier, you risk some type of repercussion.Should be reasonably easy to code a chance of injury into performing tasks, and would lend more realism - do I use my knife and put a little wear on the blade? Or do I pull gut bare-handed and risk repetitive stress?
ChillPlayer
I thought this was already the case to some extend, whenever I open a can with a knife for lack of an opener I expect to get injured lol. So there's no risk for being injured even when trashing a can? I don't like the idea too much though in regards of foraging and harvesting. You are already punished by the double ammount of time it takes, personally I think that's enough.
Cosmoline
Can you currently harvest game without a knife or axe? I thought you couldn't. The repair feature is obviously a bit goofy, with scrap metal and firewood somehow repairing an Enfield or knife. Maybe the solution is to make it more realistic. elloco999
It's possible to harvest an animal without tools as long as it's not too frozen. Harvest right after the kill, or use a fire to thaw the carcass and you don't need a knife or hatchet. It does take much longer without a tool though.
