@kristaok The inside light of a campfire actually illuminates it as if the insides of that plane were still on fire, a fire that was slowly dying out. As if the picture was taken some short time after the plane crashed, during the First Flare event, much like Will´s plane :D A picture of a sight if someone actually survived that plane crash by some miracle or something.

I might fire up a game of TLD some day, climb the summit and wait for an Aurora, drop a couple of campfires around and inside the plane - to add flames, light and smoke effects make it look like it's still partly on fire :D

Wolfish weirdness. Trapped under ice.

Something strange. Yesterday a wolf followed me into a cave and attacked me, causing a bleeding wound. I decided it was a good moment to quit the game and go outside. When I resumed the game it restarted inside the house where I was before going to the cave where the attack happened, for some reason the wound didn't trigger the autosave. One of the few times I was happy with a wolf attack...

Neat! It did improve, for sure, yet you really captured that nature of what the game felt like a long time in the past :D I was instantly taken back to my days when Id spend nights in the old Forestry lookout, the one that is now burned down... :D

Hehe, you are putting the ol´ Prepper Hank from the Story mode to shame. Now THAT is a decent cache of supplies.

Better lock the doors well, or some of our more devious forum members might try to pay you a visit. That coffee alone would fetch a nice price on the black market :D

Ahahaha, all the signs you had a good party, even though you ate the raw bunny, instead of the cooked wolf steak, during you bunny-deer-wolf killing spree.  Whoopsie. :D

Yes, Sally is just fine, she just needed some sleep. And some more sleep. And some water. and some safe food. My first game after getting back, attempting 500 days in Milton/MT only, no leaving the map. Going swimmingly well, lol. Day 12 was a bit interesting.  ^_^20190422113738_1.thumb.jpg.9fedf9f70a1626ec67363241f1765bb7.jpg

The rest are just shots I liked from the night before, and Day 12, before I got goofy. :)

I love the lilac-pink skies, just love them. screen_0dd35045-6512-4da7-9b78-ee54753ce967_hi.thumb.png.cc07276b138311a2c0a795daa83e61d7.pngscreen_4a2cf4d8-7adc-47e7-addf-70389d0c8475_hi.thumb.png.3163293b41d4b8aac9e4ecfe0bd0085a.pngscreen_cf190dcc-f9d8-4381-86cf-14d9ed41a878_hi.thumb.png.8eaf1dd20cfd19d16c13ad9b69cc1d87.pngscreen_f3f618dd-77bb-4128-92f0-6ec181d5c9b4_hi.thumb.png.3552e5be07c2a13c63890b8ca4713a4f.pngscreen_f8919179-a908-4c97-9af3-d391f77d4b4f_hi.thumb.png.3970bd57a245cb1fbb89edf092749072.pngscreen_e7257aa9-260c-436a-b827-fd6d873e5bca_hi.thumb.png.366b78bedd7501c257f46b84b557b678.pngscreen_9d8158a5-05d6-4975-bf7a-b41266adb2d5_hi.thumb.png.3e790868d8bcf4b2d403cf14a00342b8.png

First flare incident that brought down the plane on the summit of Timberwolf mountain. Props to @kristaok for inspiring me to do this bit. I might try for a better one if I come across a better, longer, less windy aurora. This one sadly ran out as I was finally able to put down more fires around the place, to simulate the aftercrash.

EDIT: Made a couple of better ones!

Right smack in the middle of a total solar eclipse.
(In actuality the graphics glitched temporarily while using charcoal. But the resemblance to the landscape during a total solar eclipse is uncanny.)

Interesting, I had the same kind of glitch with graphics after spending a night in an outdoor cave by the broken radio transmitter above Spences. My bug lasted about half day till it fixed itself... it was very surreal but also quite immersive in a way, for some reason. Maybe because it was the morning after I barely escaped with my life, being chased down by a bear over the ice in the near-pitch black darkness and a fog so thick it could be cut with a knife...

____
For those interested - during my prep for that screenshot, I discovered that it is possible to climb on top of the summit plane. The broken tree next to it can be climbed, if one is careful, even though it appears to be too tilted, it can be done. Just a little perhaps interesting bit - you can make amazing screenshots when standing on the roof of the plane, close to the edge of it.

Try to light a fire on top of the plane, and go down to the hut. Do it at afternoon, and at night, if it was clear, you can see the fire from the hut...

I might just try to do that. But I dont think that the fire on top of that plane would remain lit by the time Id walk down, even if I were to use my usual short-cut down the cliffs, it would still take at least 3 to 4 ingame hours, in that time, the wind is bound to shift and blow the fire out, it would be way too exposed on the top.

Might try that by setting the fire inside, but on the outer edge of the exposed part of the tail section. Could still be visible, in fact I could probably set a bunch of them next to each other, make it look like its burning in several places.

Something I've been tempted to do, but can't bring myself to be this wasteful: Get a bunch of fully fueled storm lanterns (like 10 or so) and at least 1 e-stim per rope.  Light them all and place them all over the place in the Mountaineer's Hut so that it's just a blinding beacon of light. Then bull rush the summit, e-stimming my way to the top, and see what that beacon-hut looks like from the summit.

Or vice versa--light a ton of lanterns at the summit, then mountain goat down to ground level and view it from the hut.

I dare you.  :P :D

Come on, I have never asked you to do anything crazy or foolish in the game before... besides those *few* things.  Hehehe. ;)
