@AlexandraRussia I agree, I would just rather starve to death before I ingest another human beings flesh... ewww *shivers*.

I'm just flabbergasted how reliably this topic keeps coming up, and I'm quite happy this isn't really dignified with more than a few "no"s.

So: no.

But big +1 on the burying achievement @ajb1978.

"It is said in emergency medicine that "nobody is dead until they are warm and dead."

Why would you want to eat someone who might not even be "dead" dead? (Top article; hypothermia during etc.)

The fifth entry in this article is particularly interesting of a man ( Mitsutaka Uchikoshi ) who is reported to have slipped into something similar to hibernation for 24 days...

While apparently possible in fringe medicine, I hardly expect the "dead" to walk again in TLD 😉 Also as you pointed out the definition of dead is rather fluent, but I'm pretty sure that in do or die situation a surprising amount of people would resort to not waiting for someone to be dead.

All of this doesn't change that it would be grossly misplaced in pretty much any game, especially this one.

I'm well aware that cannibalism "would be grossly misplaced" in TLD, and there's nothing in my post to suggest I feel otherwise.

You seem to be either missing my point, or simply ignoring it in favor of reiterating your own.

might be very much possible, but I guess I just don't fully agree with

as in I think the answer to that is "Because you are starving" and one willing to eat a person would not particularily care about how dead it really is, while

isn't what I've been trying, but merely making sure my comment is not misread as actually condoning eating people under certain circumstances just because this kind of human behaviour has its roots in human nature, and it is difficult to dispute that. Hence the last line wasn't actually directed at you, who, I think, is very much of the same opinion as I am regarding how "not well" this topic would be suited to be included into TLD or any other game.

I'm sorry if that apparent lack of clarity upset you.

@jeffpeng

Well, all in all, you've maintained a mature dialectic here without getting snarky or condescending and I have to acknowledge that - fundamentally -  I don't find any fault with what you're saying or how you're saying it.  And you were being sufficiently clear for our purposes here, so that's not really an issue for me either.  I guess what kind of set me off was that you seemed to gloss over my point which was actually just a vague insinuation now that I think about it.

The question I was trying to propose (aside from the fact that HL has already taken a stance against including cannibalism in TLD well prior to this thread) was, "Would  the OP or anyone for that matter still be inclined to dine upon the dead if it were known that they might somehow be resuscitated from their frozen / hibernating / cryogenic / state in light of the existing circumstances unfolding in Story mode?" (as I interpret them to be)

You believe they would because - put another way - "The question is not who will survive, but how they will survive".. and desperate times call for desperate measures.  I get that, and I agree with it.

So, if anyone should be apologizing, it should be me.  Truth be known, I just reallyreally hope the devs do something with that whole "dead isn't dead until it's warm and dead" thing... and that isn't what the OP is about... so... my bad.  Sorry. 😔

I guess things get heated easily over such a "cold" topic. Man, I'd hug you if you weren't a frozen corpse, and I sort of get why this topic rattles you a bit more than others :DEverything is good - and I'll make sure nobody nibbles on you.
