The Long Dark Hotfixed to V1.55 [48657]

Recommended Posts

If Hinterland sent it to GoG at the end of the day on the 3rd, and since GoG is about 9 hours ahead of Hinterland, that means they probably got it on the 4th.

If that's the case, and if GoG follows in tradition of TLD updates, I wouldn't look for the 1.55 patch to be available at GoG until next Thursday or so - about 9 days from when they receive it.

Just curious if you ever got a confirmation from GoG on receiving the 1.55 patch?

Nothing yet. We reached out to them again yesterday to confirm that they have the build.

It has been sent and so there's nothing further we can do on our end at this point.

No wonder you guys stopped selling the game through GoG :)

I'm sure GoG must be devastated.. How are they gonna survive without Hinterland?

Weird that other games in my library get patched the same day as Steam, 2 days max.. must be GoG's fault, eh?

OK! Thanks!

I think I've decided to go back to 1.47 though so I won't worry about this patch anymore, but thanks for your info. 👍

I have learned a valuable lesson from this experience: Never buy an unfinished game again. The game Foundation looks good but it's still a ways from being finished so I'm going to hold off on it. Who knows; the developers may also decide to pull the game from GoG before it's finished.

It's not the first time GoG needed more than a week to publish a TLD update. And Hinterland has more than once confirmed that they sent updates to GoG the same day they pushed those updates to Steam.

Unfortunately - unlike with Hinterland - communication with GoG is very cumbersome and AFAIK they never really told why they always delay publication of TLD updates for so long.

It should be noted that we have not in any way changed our process for updating GOG since removing The Long Dark from that store. We have committed to continue to support GOG players and are doing so. We do not believe that if The Long Dark were still sold on the GOG store the update would be released quicker.

I didn't mean to sound like I was blaming Hinterland for the patch problems with GoG. It was like that before you folks pulled the game from them.

I was just commenting in general about not buying unfinished games in the future. I may not buy any games from GoG anymore either. They have really gone downhill in the past year or so.

Although I'm not a big fan of some of the changes in Steadfast Ranger, not to mention the new bugs. The only thing I really miss, now that I've reverted back to V-1.47, is the brighter interior in the PV farmhouse, but I can live with that.

BTW! I did notice the 1.55 patch is now available at GoG, as of this morning sometime.

@Hawk
Well, seems to me then, if your issue is not really with Hinterland... shouldn't you have, maybe, posted those kinds of complaints on GoG forums/social media instead of here?

I have issues with both TLD and GoG, but not Hinterland. Besides, posting on the GoG forums is about the same as me writing on my bedroom wall: A complete waste of time.

Sorry if my comments bother you so much.

To confirm GOG has told us the update is out. @Polynomial-C had said so earlier today but we wanted to check with them before saying anything official.

Thank you for your patience.

Your comments don't bother me per se... it's just that based on what you have been saying, they just seemed to be misdirected.  That's all... no harm, no foul :)

At this point let's refocus the conversation on Hotfix V1.55 now that a few new players have access to it. The distribution of the update has been discussed enough and everyone should have it (or at least have the option of having it).

Thanks.

I'm still seeing a lot of arrows suspended in mid-air:

It very much looks like the arrow "froze" right at the moment of death of the wolf, instead of falling with it. See also:

Also, the forge in Old Spence has smoke coming out the chimney even when the forge is not lit:

It's hard to see, but it's there.

On a positive note, I submitted a bug report some time back that pointed out that the z-order on the clothing paper doll for hats and ear wraps was wrong.

Before you'd see the ear wrap on the outside of the rabbit hat and/or toque or what have you. Now:

I can't believe you guys fixed it. Thanks!

Yeah, that is some sweet sweet clothing that guy has. This is my long run guy, currently up to ~680 days. It doesn't really get any better than that. Sure the sprint is totally hosed, but if my clothing's at full and I get hacked by a bear I still have 55% condition after it's over.
