CombustibleMonkey Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 I'm thinking of a few small things. Drying racks for meat, which is a very simplistic and viable way to preserve meat. All that needs to be done is freeze it to kill bacteria then hang. Also, the prospect of salt and salting meat for preservation. New ways to start a fire, which is needed when your a few hundred days in or running low on matches and other fire starting materials.
UpUpAway95 Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Drying meats in freezing temperatures really isn't realistic. Meats need a temperature somewhere between +10 to +15C to dry (as opposed to just drying out and getting freezer burn). Even indoor temperatures in TLD are not that high. Of course, TLD also isn't realistic in how we currently cure leather in these same cold environments. I guess I just don't really see the point. Frozen meat keeps well enough.
Guest kristaok Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 You wouldn't really need a Drying Rack or Salts to preserve Meat in the Snow, the Snow itself preserves the Meat.
