JohnDoe60
First impressions: I want to turn off the red slope indicator, independently of the on-contextual-off control, because it is too intrusive and does not tell me anything new. Toning it down (colour, opacity, size, the flashing!) would help as would fine tuning its presentation (maybe only show on inobviously risky slopes), but I'd rather it just be disappearable. The HUD/UI, generally, seems kinda unfocused. I started a proper bug report about some bit of it awhille back but found it was difficult to say what/where was the bug -- the indicator going clockwise or the counter clockwise version, the click or the hold activators, the remembered choice or the forgotten one, the HUD element which appears when I TAB while in OFF mode or those which do not, <shrug>. I could not see any definitive problem to point to, and attacking it piecemeal is probably the wrong strategy. seems a bit sensitive(?) or overzealous(?), and at times just as inappropriate as the old system E.g., I moved across a near vertical slope carrying ~33.3 kg, warm, fed, watered, more rested than tired, fell at least twice and ending up with four sprains in rapid succession. Four sprains so quickly seems a bit much, because it should have only taken one to end the adventurel. A fall while traversing a slope like that should have sent me to the bottom, and I probably should not have been able to move so quickly across it in the first place (perhaps not at all without a hatchet or knife, okay, that may be too hardcore)... anyways, a risk of falling to the bottom of steep terrain which is proportional to its slope seems like a reasonable mechanic. So, ya, no problems popping out which a couple tweaks (and maybe a custom control) couldn't fix... nice job.
Sunwolf
Fair criticism, and I agree with most of it.
Ice Hole
A sprained wrist prevents me from sprinting. Is this a bug or intended? Previous a wrist sprain would not interfere with sprinting. So this should be a bug. Also the revolver can still be used with a sprain. When the description indicates the opposite. 'You will not be able to hold weapons until you treat it..." Does the revolver still function because it is an easier to handle weapon compared to the bow or rifle? Aimed alright. Shot from the hip. Aim was a little low. ManicManiac
@Ice Hole In your screen shot it shows you also have a sprained ankle... which would be what's affecting your ability to sprint. 2
Ice Hole
it was another time and I did not screen shot. Easy enough to show. Be right back.
ManicManiac
In that case, I didn't intend to misunderstand what you were trying to convey. I would agree then a sprained wrist impairing your ability to sprint would possibly be a bug, and should be reported through the support portal (assuming there were not other contributing factors - like being exhausted/encumbered for example).
ManicManiac
The only weirdness I've experienced with the new sprain mechanics so far was one inexplicable occurrence of a wrist & ankle sprain. It occurred while walking across flat ice... (this was within three minutes of starting up my save - so I kind of feel like it was the game's way of letting me know the world has changed ) ... but after that, I've had no issues (I mean so far - I only got to play around for a couple of hours). Ice Hole
Did some more testing and I was wrong sprinting works while having a wrist sprain. Took me a couple tries but after some goating I found the high ground. Happened once to me this morning where with a wrist sprain and could not sprint. Only idea is this could be a bug that is rare to reproduce. Usually I test out the bug and reproduce it repeatedly before going to the tracker. 39 minutes ago, ManicManiac said: The only weirdness I've experienced with the new sprain mechanics so far was one inexplicable occurrence of a wrist & ankle sprain. RNG can be nasty some times. Further testing reveals it takes two wrist sprains. Never mind. Edited May 7, 2019 by Ice Hole
Rooks_Nemesis
I personally was quite excited to see this system being re worked, and then I played the game... for the most part everything is great except now paths that I used regularly are quite off limits due to receiving 2 at best, to 5 sprains in rather quick succession. One spot in particular being anywhere near the gun bunker is mystery lake. I mean if you leave down the "long" slope towards frozen creek your more or less ok, while leaving to the right (looking at the bunker) and heading towards the rock cairn your taking your life into your own hands, little lone if you continue down that hill to the burned out cabin ugh.. The left side ( looking at the bunker) and heading down that slope towards the pathway between the rocks has also been problematic. I walked up the pathway from the camp office towards lake overlook exactly 3 times, each time at least one sprain while walking uphill, running downhill however absolutely nothing ( which I find wierd lol). I take the double ropes up, then run down now lol... Before it's asked, Yes I was under weight. Carrying just starter items ( stalker ) I've tried at full energy and condition just after waking up. And I've tried over multiple save games.. I've also been playing it on the Xbox One since hitting the console and now playing it on the Xbox One X. Don't know if that helps. It seems to me like it is working as intended just over tweaked to the enth degree. It's quite frustrating doing something I've done for years now in game, just to no longer be able to do simple traveling without sever consequences. ManicManiac
Well, they are working on it now, so we will no doubt have a hotfix that fine tunes the system to reflect more what they intended. They've put out a few Tweets now that they see what's going on and working to fix it. I'm confidant they will get it updated as soon as they can.
