PC Fatal error when launching game after update

This what my event log shows.

Administrative events

Unable to start a DCOM server: 27620HinterlandStudio.30233944AADE4_1.44.4083.2_x64_y1bt56c4151zw!App as Unavailabe/Unavailabe. The error: "5"

Dont know if this is an issue a d it's an event id 1001. Any help would be appreciated. This is what I'm getting trying to launch game with fatal error.

I just downloaded this game today and experiencing the same issues.  I changed the scaling and downloaded the C+.  And rebooted.  Reinstalled program and rebooted.  Rebooted and reinstalled...

Join the club. I've followed the recommendations on the support page except running the "fresh start" feature in Windows and reloading everything. I've reached out to support a couple times as well but haven't gotten a reply yet. I really want to see the new updates.

@Andy_K Pretty sure it's broken for everyone and the lack of response from @Support indicates they really don't care. Too bad...uninstall and never buy another game from Hinterland.

not working for me either fatal error "failed to load game assembly"??.. on windows store/play anywhere....we need a fix!

I figured they would have provided the XBOX Play Anywhere PC users with an updated Redux like they did for the other platforms.   The Store page even states that Redux is XBOX Play Anywhere.

They finally fixed it. Just go to the store page and it will re-download. Should work after that.

Thanks everyone for your patience with this issue! We've got a bit of a backlog from the holidays to work through, but we recently released a patch that should allow everyone experiencing this error to play the game.

If you're playing the Microsoft Store version of The Long Dark and are still seeing a "Failed to load Game Assembly" message, please check that your game is updated to the latest version!

Yeah, looks like the patch fixed this issue, as well as the game save issue for me
