So, bit of a list:

Things to do (positive)

Increase calories on wolf and deer

Add in bows, x-bows etc

Deer made bigger

Deer give more meat

Increase rabbit population

Hunt rabbits normally (sorry if already in)

Hunt birds conventionally, and with a special snare (see above)

Increase rabbit and bird population

Add in big-game traps, log drops, dead-noose etc

In a wolf attack, fight back with axxes/knives etc

Things to do (negative)

Drastically reduce deer population

Reduce wolf population (but make more aggressive)

Reduce wear and tear on weapons

reduce rifle ammo

firstly, get the hell out with the idea of reducing ammo. Make it more distributed, perhaps, but not less. Secondly you can fight back with weapons in wolf attack (but normal melee needs adding.) wolves need pack behaviour, and need to be bigger
