I have been poking around MT lately but have not come across this little nook.  Even has a flag of old man's beard by the entrance.  @s7mar7inThe find it you name it rule applies.

That's because that nook is on TWM, not MT. If you climb up from the cabin towards the rear you'll find a passage along the "back" of the map. It's up in there IIRC.

Whoops.  Crashedmountain is TWM

Thinking now I know where this is located.  This would look more familiar if the large log was not missing.  I always pass this spot as I make my way into TWM by heading up and to the right when coming in from PV.

Yes correct @stratvox...it is TWM; first nook on the right as you move from game spawn-location and walk to the river leading to lake and cabin.

Thanks, I appreciate that.  The initial reason for starting this thread was to reveal a hidden cave that is more than odd.  Found it maybe within the first six months of picking up the Long Dark.  Been waiting to see if others have come across this unique hidden cave too.  In the meantime I continue searching for additional locations and noting Hidden Cave campsite amenities.

Good location @hozz1235 Might stop by and check out the digs tonight as I just found another one in MT recently.

 

This cranny is not that roomy and if you suffer form vertigo this location might not be the best choice.  A fire and bedroll can be placed, windproof is not guaranteed.

This is near the rope climb in the Milton park.  Getting here is one way and going down hurts.

I spent the whole day and night there with a fire in the corner which does seems windproof.

This recently discovered cave is more of a boulder foot.  The boulder rises up and forms the roof and the V floor allows for a wind proof fire.

Long Dark Rocky Mountain Goat Respite 

 

 

Summit of TWM on the right side of the plane.  If goating then this area could save your life.  Blizzards have hit while I make the summit during a goaterloper run.  Exhausted, frozen, wet and four limb sprained; with health down in the red, stumbling in a blizzard with death reaching, I still pushed on.   The issue I had was not having enough wood to overcome the freeze.  Although making the plane with just a sliver of health the better choice might have been resting here to warm up a coffee or tea.

Got a glimpse of this cave while I was busy doing something else.

Kayak Cave

Room for a bedroll and fire that seems windproof.  There is also chimney hole for the smoke to exit.  Snow shelter is not an option.

 

 

Spotted this on my to PV.  This hidden spot is opposite the cave that goes from Winding River to Pleasant Valley.

Crumbling Highway, on the little island on the opposite side of the big cave with all the coal in it. Handy spot.

You got me on this one.  Might be in BRR,HRV, or MT but that is just a guess.

This hidden cave was a trap in pre Steadfast Ranger update. 

Goated into the area and could not find a way to escape.  My curiosity about the cave is what drew my into the trap.

Kept the save and tried it tonight and was surprised when I found an opening.  Thanks to team Hinterland.
