I noticed that some shelters lack stoves. My idea is a portable chimney kettle. For those who haven't used one before...here is a diagram. It would require another item which is a smaller amount of wood such as wood shavings. Wood shavings could be harvested from larger pieces of wood.

Weight: .5-1 kg (could increase size if needed for realism)

Time to melt snow: 10+ minutes

Time to boil water: 8 minutes per liter

Fuel: wood shavings

I use a chimney kettle outdoors and they are great tools. Lightweight, small amount of wood to boil water very quickly. You can also cook on top of one with practice. Personally, I use the lightweight boilerwerks chimney kettle. Other kettles tend to be a little heavy.
