Where do you store your matches?

Just wondering with the Coastal Highway map the medical cabinets don't seem to be as good a place to store matches as the medical kits in the Mystery Lake map. So where do you store your matches on the Coastal Highway map?

I currently store them in the freezer.

I just stick them in the closest cupboard to my fireplace with my wood. Degradation of items isn't something I worry about too much, I don't care about surviving 100+ days right now, though odds are I may still be able too.

from my experience you can put them just about anywhere. First aid kit will do.

There are more than enough matches on the map, and they last a long time.

Just don't carry them with you all the time.

An alternative if you are afraid of running out of matches is leaving some places unlooted.

It should also work if you leave matches lying where they are and not pick them up.

However, I confirmed that once you open a container, and put the item back, the aging process begins.

Still I cannot understand why the matches degrade over time. If you have 10 matches in the box, after 10 years you will have the same.

Same goes with canned food. You cannot degrade a can which can also be used for nuclear war and underground safe houses for years. Usually the expiry date is 5+ years.

After a couple of years moister in the air will cause the chemicals that make up the strike to degrade as well as the stick its attached to and the cardboard box that holds the said matches, and lets not get started on critters, silverfish love chewing on paper
