Arrows destroyed completely by quartering

So, it appears that if you quarter a carcass without pulling the arrows out, they are completely destroyed.

Makes total sense. What good is a quarter of an arrow?

Well, I'd think that the player would recover them in the process of quartering... and even if quartering did destroy the shafts, where are the arrowheads?

Are you sure they are destroyed and not just "hidden"?  I've lost a bunch of arrows hunting, only to find them rolling around in the snow a few days later.

I've had arrows sink into surrounding stuff (rocks, deer parts, snow, carpets).  For the deer parts - the arrow was there when I went back after the legs and stuff had disappeared.  Have you checked?  Also wind blows them around.

I've seen 3 scenarios:

1. I hit the animal and the arrow falls out right there.
2. I hit the animal, animals dies and I can see the arrow sticking out of the carcass (at which time I take the arrow before harvesting).
3. I hit the animal, animals dies but no sign of the arrow.  Although, this usually happens when I score a hit then pass time for an hour while the animal bleeds out.  Guess the arrow could of fallen out somewhere between where I hit it and it died, but have yet to find the arrow on the ground in that case.

In this case, I'd just wasted a moose and was excited and forgot to pull the arrows. When I was done quartering the animal, they were gone. That was over a week ago game time now... still no sign of 'em anywhere. AFAICT, they're just gone.
