Elavator won't work

Okay, I get into the dam, open the door and I get the power switch on...

But when I start to make my way towards the elevator the power goes out and the character goes like "I'm gonna be stuck here a while better see what I can use."

And that's it. Can't get in the elevator.

If the aurora ran out during the night you're gonna have to wait for a new one.

Yeah, that's a scripted event. You need to wait for the next one. I can't tell if it's a bug or not but it happens every time. It's really dumb.

Yeah but if you wait too long the aurora will stop and you're gonna have to wait for a new one. That's why you should sleep the days and  if you see the aurora in the sky at night you need to go for it.

Hinterland confirmed that this action is intentional.  Basically, the game has decided there is not enough aurora activity time remaining for you to receive the full "dam interior experience".  So it locked the door so you would not "miss out".  Try again later.

In other words: they planned the level poorly, recognized this, then shoehorned in a cheap corrective action.
