Place object from inventory

I would like to see a "Place" button beside the "Drop" button when you highlight an item in your inventory.  This would take you out of inventory and having you holding the object as though you had right-clicked while it was on the ground.  Escaping out of this would put the item back in your inventory.

Sort of the inverse of being able to eat food or research books you find without having to place them in inventory first.
