What if someone, or "something" else is out there?

What if someone, or "something" else were watching you?

What if now and then minor stuff would turn up missing or out of place in your home base,  or you  find a second fire near yours on waking That wasn't there the night before? There could be a cutscene or narrative for it for a second randomly in the game, and you'd be able to ignore it or investigate. Could be a random spawn sorts thing. Rare, but progressive as it's engaged.

There could be a mysterious relationship with an unknown that you passively or actively can  foster or dissolve over time.

It'd be neat to get woke up and hear something moving off.  You follow it's trail and find a den but not a normal one......or maybe signs of a human....maybe.

Maybe as you progress, occasionally in times of need you'd wake up and find just enough of what you needed  next to you, almost like a thank you for the stuff earlier or an offering,  like random  like a bright cloth or some twigs n flowers wrapped together.

You have a choice of leaving something in return and the choice matters in the long run. You can build or damage trust. Make an ally or an enemy.

Or maybe find that some of your gear is wrecked. Or a warning like a mutilated rabbit in your camp on waking, if you haven't been nice.

What if you've built enough trust with the something, that if a bear is charging and you're screwed, a cutscene happens where it's charging and then it screeches to a stop, looks behind you and runs away.

Or it's charging and a huge howl/growl/yell/bark happens behind you and it runs of.  After the scene, you can keep going, or turn around and find tracks or foot prints.

Maybe there's a couple "unknowns" in different regions. Human? Animal? Other? Who knows, that's the mystery!

I love the solitary nature of sandbox , but I think it'd be neat to have an option for some sort of interaction with the unkown.  Or maybe an option for it in custom or a DLC.

Just a thought ;)

I'd like something like this. But less of the horror aspect. I'd just like to see signs of other people in the area. Like smoke in the distance, burnt out campfires, items that weren't there before, dead hunted animals, blood trails, blood spots, footprints and perhaps looted buildings. You don't even have to add actual NPC's to the sandbox. Just simulate them.

That's probably the happy middle ground between the "No NPCs ever" and "NPCs may be interesting" groups on the forums ;)

Well, the whole thing would be a GREAT GREAT idea for a future mod, when they will be authorized by hinterland. But not in the original game.  ;)

NPC are already in sandbox. They're just rock frozen on the ground.  :D

Yeah, it's not that there's no NPC's that bothers me. It's that there's no sign of them. I'd like for buildings to be looted when I'm exploring 30 days in.
