I feel sorry for the Old Bear (Spoilers, I guess)

I'm going to get laughed at, I know it.

But I feel sorry for the Old Bear. I think Jeremiah is a crazy old guy, and I don't want to kill the bear just because he told me to. Yes, I know grizzly bears can be dangerous in real life, but usually only when they feel cornered or if they're injured, or if you threaten their young. The poor Old Bear has arrows stuck in him and that'd make anyone mad! He's probably been living in this part of the forest for decades and Jeremiah has shown up and started shooting arrows into him!

I feel really bad following him around the map, shooting at him.

Poor Old Bear :/

I wish that mission was avoidable. Maybe if you had enough trust with Jeremiah. Because you don't NEED to kill the Old Bear to make it out of Mystery Lake, he just tells you that because he wants to be sure you'll have the ability to make it to Signal Hill alive.

That would be lame. I mean It's just a video game animal. And it would have beem dangerous for Jeremiah to leave that angry bear live.

Killing a rabbit is sad,  but wolves and bears can get the F outta my way ;D

I can see the argument, but in Jeremiah's defence: the bear has clearly attacked and mauled people (we actually see it happening!).  Out here in the real world, that's a line bears cross, and don't cross back.  Bears are omnivores and opportunists, and when one decides human is on the menu, it never comes off.  Bears that lose their caution around humans are treated with extreme seriousness and caution by Parks Canada.

Because it can be tedious to do.

Survival Mode: Cooking level 5 + 30 days of bear meat = B|. I love animals but If I could kill the old bear twice I would. Some people give the cute animals a pass but don't care about others. You won't hear to many complaints about stepping on ants, or killing mice. I guess the bigger they are and more cuddly they look the more protection they get? The beautiful thing about hunting in a video game is that there are no consequences and you can live out a fantasy of hunting a bear. I guess its just being able to morally separate yourself from the real world and the video game world. For me I laugh when I crack a rabbits neck, I kill every bear I see. Have I stopped my car and picked up a turtle and help him get across a busy road? Yes. In a game I would butcher it and wear it as a helmet. I'm not trying to be snarky, just another perspective.

The Old Bear clearly is rampant, hes killed several humans, and most likely before those arrows were planted into him (I like to think Astrid did it on her way through). If you play The Hunted, part two quest, you will notice just about every corpse available in mystery lake has spawned, indicating the bear clearly kills everything it sees for sport, including humans.

Bears will eat about anything and when they learn humans are food, they cant just be ignored. Like @Blankshield said:

Now if Jeremiah told me to go out and kill some random bear just to prove I can, I would definitely refuse. I've no need to, especially since Will is trying to find Astrid as soon as he can and not make a comfy bedroll.
