Survival Rifle and Competition Rifle

A modern survival rifle typically refers to a simple break action, over-under, collapsible, combination rifle and shotgun (usually a .22 cal. rifle, and a 410 or 20 ga. shotgun). As a game-play mechanic, it would function as an alternative to carrying a heavy hunting rifle. It's primary use in game would be as an efficient rabbit and grouse killer. It could also be used to scare, injure, or even kill (with a close range head-shot) a wolf, but would only aggro bear and moose. It perhaps could be used on deer, but I fear that would unbalance the game in a way that might make the hunting rifle obsolete (which isn't my intention). This would allow players to carry a lighter firearm for small game and protection, and also carry a bow for deer.

A .22 caliber biathlon rifle for use on small game, as well as for protection [can scare, injure, or even kill (with a head-shot at close range) a wolf, but will only aggro bear and moose]. This would be more of a flavor and immersion item than a game altering tool.

I don't know if you're going to get any support for that, I might be one of the few people that advocate the idea that it wouldn't be immersion breaking to add more firearms and that it would in fact be more plausible from a story setting standpoint. However, I don't think its likely to find a firearm like that in the story's setting. While .22lr firearms might be common, I don't know that a competition rifle can be plausibly written into the game's setting.
