Archery and Deer Behavior -- A Better Idea

What if arrows weren't so hard to come by, but deer behaved more realistically?

Numerous posters have complained that arrow heads shouldn't need to be forged.  I agree you should be able to make them from scrap metal or glass without a forge.

But as close as you can get to dear while crouching, I suppose they would be OP without another change.

But it's also silly how close you can get to a deer!

So, why not change this whole dynamic by making arrows way easier to come by, but making deer flee at much greater ranges unless concealed, downwind, and quiet.

i mean it's possible to get close to dear in a dense forest if you hide and wait for them, but I've crept up to plenty on the open ice in CH and that is kinda dumb really.

more arrows and more elusive dear would make you take longer bow shots which would only be MORE fun, and a better hunting game all around!

we could start to see some real Robin Hoods out there if the archery game was more of a ranged event than the almost hand to hand game we have

Change the distance at which animals recognize you.  It makes hunting rabbits with stones way harder.  Haven't tried it with deer, but probably wouldn't matter since I hunt from behind.  As far a deer go, yeah you should probably have to hunt them from further away which would mean you need to increase the archery range.  I am for basically any idea that would deepen the meager amount of crafting we can actually do.  Whether it be sharpening arrow points or whatever it may be.  The current crafting system is a total bore.  Once you have crafted the few items you are allowed to craft the game is basically over.  There is nothing to push you forward after that.  Survival sandbox should be about striving to better your way of life and right now there isn't anything to push you forward. (Hint: More crafting\building)
