Gray mothers firewood bin challenge bug?

So I'm on the firewood bin challenge from gray mother and somthing is not triggering to finish the task. I start out by entering the house and going through the cut scene where she shoots at you. Then she asks you to go fill up her firewood bin outside. Alright. I leave the house and go find enough wood for 24 plus hours a put it in the bin. BUT, the letters and numbers are all red when I pan over the firewood bin instead of white like every single walk-through video I've seen. Then I try entering the house again and the cut scene where she shoots at you repeats itself... I've even started the game over and still the same problem. I'm playing on Windows 10, (probably my first mistake). Am I missing somthing or is this just a bug that will need to be updated. 

 

Any help would be great! Thanks

I don't think it's finished because if it finished it would go onto the next cut scene wear she's is clapping her hands (according to the walk through I've watched). But instead it repeats the original cut scene when I enter the house. Also it's red to start out with...

what does your journal say?  the reason I ask is I had a glitch that sounded like this.  There was nothing in my journal.  Did some snooping around the internet.  Came back - took everything out of the box, went in and went through the whole cut scene again.  Quest showed up properly in the journal and then I put the stuff in the box.

After entering the house and going through the cut scene the quest did show up in my journal. So I don't think that's the problem... Even when I exit the house the quest still shows up in my journal. When I enter the house again it goes through the cut scene again it says it's updated my journal even though it was there before. I'll try that again when I get a chance but sadly I don't think that's the problem...
