Admin
[SPOILERS for Survival Mode Gameplay!] Below you'll find a list of locations in The Long Dark's Survival Mode. We hope these might be useful to you in completing the Faithful Cartographer Achievement. NOTE: In v1.19 of The Long Dark, we've released a fix for an issue with the Faithful Cartographer achievement that was keeping it from unlocking for many players. Pleasant Valley Icon - Abandoned Mine Icon - Signal Hill Icon - Barn Icon - Three Strikes Farmstead Icon - Leave Pleasant Valley Icon - Farmhouse Icon - Leave Pleasant Valley First of all thanks for a checklist that might help the majority of people achieving it, IF they don't hit a bug on the way. I just recently started playing a Custom Survival run (1.17). Thanks for borking all my displayed loot in the PV Farmhouse basement /cry. 5L of fuel, 5 axes, 7 knifes & 4 lanterns. May they rest forever in the upside down. Let me show you my map of PV so far: Zoomed in: I've mapped the entrance to the "Abandoned Mine" x10 now. Angles don't matter, distance doesnt matter. Take a look at the zoomed in map. I've been thorough and mapped every single part of that area. Not a single Cave, House or Car, got mapped. This is regardless of positioning aswell. But hey the dead guy and container near Upper Falls got mapped. He is inside the bloody cave... So what happens when I reach the final bit of mapping in whichever region that might be? Will the tracker look at my map, and say "He didn't map the Abandoned Mine, so he hasn't earned it"? Team Hinterland could we please get some mapping consistency? I refuse to cheat my way to the achievement, but you're making it frustratingly difficult. Edit: (Observation) Timberwolf MountainLocation Trigger - Waterfall Cave ?? (near Eric's Falls)
ChillPlayer
Wow thanks for the effort of putting this list together, it's very much appreciated. Guess I now know what I'll be doing for the next 250 days on my current Stalker run
Shinjuru
I've gone back to all of the zones after this latest update and there are still issues with Icons and Trigger Locations still not being displayed. In fact, the map just won't un-hide the area, no matter how many times I re-sketch area. I've sprained so many wrists and ankles trying to get maybe a slightly different angle. I have wasted tons of Charcoal moving a few feet or closer to structures each and every time to get these uncovered and tagged. After this latest update, I decided to hold back on posting this, just-in-case these were just visual issues with my Maps. But after mapping out all of the Mountain Town (*and going back to each and every zone to re-map - I believe those are 27 in-game days), and not getting the Achievement, I decided to move forward with this post. Desolation Point: The Mine Entrances and Stone Church Icon never appears, although I have seen it on other player maps. Why does this map always appear when viewing map from within buildings in Mountain Town?
Shinjuru
Coastal Highway: Many of the Trailers and small buildings in the middle of the map don't display, especially the Trailer and vicinity of Train Unloading area. It remains covered no matter how many times I've remapped area.
Shinjuru
Pleasant Valley: Some Cave, Climbing Points, and Building Structure Icons don't display.
Shinjuru
The Long Dark is such a great game! I'm over 400 days in on this character. Inching my way towards the 500 Days Achievement. I'm really hoping (and praying) that this can be addressed without having to start over.
Arzanot
I was in a 1.17 game started pretty much the day it released. Had plenty of icons (big and small) never appear when mapping. Once 1.19 hit, the basement of PV farmhouse, kept being reset, and it actually counted as a new discovered location every time. You could basically discover 100% of the world going back and forth between the basement and the main house. Having just mapped TMW and most of PV, there were already differences in icons from my old playthrough, sigh... Hinterland stating stuff is fixed retroactively, seems to me like a big guess. I've decided to start a brand new 1.19 playthrough, as soon as I get the 1000 fires badge. The problem with Survival game fixes: - Survival games seem stuck in the game version they were started in - Survival games create new bugs everytime you start one. - New patches tend to break current Survival games, without fixing issues. My best bet for achieving Faithful Cartographer, would be to start over in a 1.19 game.

Arzanot
The main benefit to this released list of locations is that you'll know if your current game is completely fucked
ATHAPL
After check all this list i am almost give up, because all these places are mapped in my game only the Stone Church icon is invisible. This achievement is a pain in the ass, it is bugged.

Arzanot
I just started over in a 1.19 survival game. Abandoned Mine remains unmappable. I give up, Hinterland has officially driven me out of this game for 2017. Cya in 2018.
