Hints for Mountain Town location.

Hello everyone. 
Could someone give me a vague idea what I'm looking for to find a way to Mountain Town?  Am I looking for ropes or caves?  I died in Forelorn Muskeg trying to find a way in and am wandering around without a clue in Mystery Lake.

Also, a more general question.  Are there items in crates and cardboard boxes?  I know stuff can be hidden behind them, but is there anything in them?

same way you got to Mystery Lake in story mode is the way back to mountain town. Nothing in cardboard boxes. I've found minor stuff in green crates on very rare occasions. mostly they're just good for tinder and wood.

Was that in chapter 2?  I didn't play that one.

end of chapter 1 => start of chapter 2. you can find the place in the first few min of chapter 2.

The entrance from Mystery Lake is a cave near the Trapper's Homestead.

The Muskeg entrance is next to Marsh Ridge. Look for a climb-able rock wall (not a rope).

EDIT:  Um, I'm on Xbox.  These are on PC.  Patch probably isn't live yet.  Whoops.

Still... here are some nice descriptions of how to get there.

Go to the Trapper's Homestead in ML.  Here's a video from there.

 

Alternatively, go to FM and up to Marsh Ridge.  Here's a helpful video for that path:

@Sashamorning Can you confirm what version of the game you are playing on? This is the number in the upper lefthand corner of the main menu screen. As you see in the videos you linked, Mountain Town is indeed part of Survival Mode now.

Also, do you see it available as a starting region when starting a new Survival Mode game? Let us know.

No worries! And yes, it's Steam-only for the moment. But we are looking to get the other platforms launched this week, after they go through certification. Shouldn't be too long now.

Since you're here, do you know if this will allow the Faithful Cartographer achievement to finally be available?

As we mention in the Release Notes, the Faithful Cartographer achievement is one we're still investigating. As soon as we have new information on how that's going, we'll be sure to share it. But we're definitely aware of the interest in the issue among the community.

Pretty sure that it was fixed in Rugged Sentinel

Just for clarity, because we've mentioned it elsewhere, we continue to investigate issues with the Faithful Cartographer achievement. But we're hopeful we have a fix in sight for some of the problems players are having with it. Thanks for your patience.
