Flannix Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 I was getting out this morning I could hear the wind blowing all night long... Grab my winter, got in my car looked in the glove compartment, look in the trunk dammit only one Mitten. Started the car It showed -10 c i was thinking my coat is a +15 c and can break the wind for an other +10 but darn I could see my temperature meter was still going down.... Canada is my country and winter is arrived...
Hotzn Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 You can light a torch and take it into the car with you. Gives a temp bonus.
JAFO Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Lighting a fire under the hood usually works for me..
Flannix Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 Its a rotation fire it spark's fast and use lantern fuel...
MarrowStone Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 @JAFO, you light a fire under your trunk irl? XD, is your air conditioning broken? Mine used to be but we hacksawed the rusted out tube out n replaced it with indistrial hosing.
cekivi Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Welcome to the forums @Flannix Hopefully that other mitten will turn up soon. Probably right after you buy a new one
Flannix Posted November 14, 2017 Author Posted November 14, 2017 @cekivi Thanks, as for the mitten for my right hand they usually never show back. I don't feel my left hand so I keep it always covered irl. But I feel the right hand mitten is always too warm or temper with my dexterity so I remove it and at that point its a matter of time before I loose it. Hihihi.
MarrowStone Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I used to wear one black fingerless glove on my right hand in high school for style reasons. But i either lost or my parents had thrown it away because they would always complain about it.
hozz1235 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Don't forget to get out, open the back door (since you can't see in the backseat from the front) and check back there too.

A fire under the hood (not in the trunk) has saved my life a couple of times when I had to sleep in a car in TLD.
Sito Posted November 15, 2017 Posted November 15, 2017 how do you sleep in a car? and light a fire in it? without getting blown up?

I know, i just had a funny image of someone driving down the highway with their car on fire. (Omg i just realized i wrote trunk instead of hood in my last post). I cant seem to write cohesive sentences nowadays. On a 200 day run, i probably spent 30 of them wrapped up in a bearskin bedroll in the car next to the Pleasent Valley Farmhouse. No fire needed tho, the car was also my meat locker and needed to be cold.

So long as you only do it in TLD, it's pretty easy.. To sleep in a car, use the radial menu, select 'Campcraft', then the bedroll (which will be there even if you don't have a bedroll), and choose how long you want to sleep. But since cars get pretty cold, don't sleep too long, because you may freeze to death. It's possible to build a fire next to the car to stay warm (don't put it right by the door, or you may get burnt when you exit), or even on the engine with the hood raised. But again, only sleep for an hour or two at a time, because if the wind shifts and blows the fire out, you can freeze to death.

cekivi Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Welcome to the forums @Sito Sleeping in cars is really useful if you don't have/forget a bedroll and need to rest/wait for predators to leave/warm up while travelling.

Also depends on what clothing you have, the weather conditions and time of day/night.. also, don't forget, the world slowly gets colder as time goes by.

Riotintheair Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Also, the temp bonus of the cars in the PV Barn and BR Maintenance Shed can help you warm up a little faster if you're sleeping or passing time in them than sleeping or passing time outside of the cars in those interiors.
