shade_grey
Just loaded a Stalker game where I'm currently living at the Old Spence Stable. I noticed that one of my batches of raw bear meat had disappeared. I looked around for other missing stuff and noticed that all my fir wood was also gone. So far it seems that I didn't loose anything else. All the stuff that I lost where dropped on the snow. The thing is, I have other items dropped on the snow, another batch of raw bear meat, piles of sticks, cedar wood, and reclaimed wood, a batch of cook bear meat, and a single piece of 0.3 kg venison I use for hunting predators, but none of those were lost. Why did one batch of bear meat disappear and not the other? Why the fir wood? Did anyone else experience this? Is this a bug? Has anyone reported this yet? KinoUnko
lost some coal there, in the loft, by the bed. That place reminds me of swamp castle.

So that means that it doesn't only happen on the snow... I currently have a hypothesis but I haven't tested it yet. Gonna need to gather a lot of tinder plugs to test it. 1 hour ago, KinoUnko said: That place reminds me of swamp castle. From Monty Python and the Holy Grail? Cray
It could be that you placed the items where there was once crates/planks etc that you broke down. It's happened to me many times. Try placing items on surfaces or in containers, or in places where you are sure there was nothing originally to be sure. It's a pain.

Pretty sure I didn't drop them over where the crates were. Those are in the corner to the right coming up from the ramp. I drop the coal by the bed right in front of the ramp. I think total amount of "wild" coal in a map maybe capped, and some new coal spawned else where and these disappeared, since this happened while I left Spencer's for a few days. I've since started storing coal in the metal container under the loft.

It's happened to me many times. Try placing items on surfaces or in containers, or in places where you are sure there was nothing originally to be sure. It's a pain. That was my hypothesis. I made a lot of tinder bundles to test it out and I did get results but it isn't conclusive yet. Here are the screenshots of my tests: This is the control spot: As you can see there are no crates at this spot. This is the tinder plug field that I set up: This is what it looks like after several saves and loads: As you can see none of the tinder bundles disappeared just as expected. Now to the interesting part. This is the area underneath the loft: A lot of breakable objects here. Three crates and a metal shelf. Here is the tinder plug field that I made: And this is what happened to it after loading and saving just once: Now it looks like there's some conclusive results but there's a crate spot that didn't make the tinder plugs disappear. The one in between the safe and the meat. Now this is a part that I find quite confusing. The area beside the forge: As you can see there is a crate there that used to hold coal. This is where I dropped my fir wood. Here is a small tinder plug field: It isn't big cause I didn't want to move the rest of my wood. After saving and loading several times this is what it looks like: I replenished my sticks which I used to craft my tinder plugs and used one of the reclaimed wood but aside from that nothing significant has changed. This is frustrating cause that spot is where I lost my fir wood. This is the area on the loft where the crates are: This is the tinder plug field: This is what it looks like after saving and loading several times: As you can see none of the tinder plugs have disappeared (sorry about the grainy screenshot, didn't see that until now). At this point I'm on my way to BR to explore that place but I'm gonna come back to FM to make another experiment. I'm not sure if I want to continue with the current experiment for a while or drop that and make a new one. Taking into account the area that @KinoUnko mentioned, I'm probably going to have to cover the whole stable in tinder plugs.
Cray
Good research, I did something similar but found that it can be selective about which items are affected, for me the tinder didn't disappear (even though I wanted to get rid of it!)... in this shot, the area between the bench and the stove used to have a chair and has eaten wood, water and accelerant in the past, but the tinder at least prevents me putting stuff there by mistake...
