Clothing system easily improvable

Recommended Posts

The current clothing system is a bit of a mess when it comes to inner/outer layer. It doesn't tell you which of the 2 slots is outer and which is inner (sometimes it's on the left, sometimes on the right) and it's frustrating because it would be so easy to fix by just adding the word INNER or OUTER on each slot. I think it used to be like this months ago, why did they change it?

It makes sense - the inner layer is the one, closer to the model of the character. Dont think its neccesary to add that text - it actually sort of encourages people to think a bit when they put clothes on. And finally, the paperdoll model of the character itself should be a great indication - you can see what slot is the "outer" layer because it will be displayed on top of the inner layer on the paperdoll model.

It's not like that for the head slot, the one closer to the doll is the outer, so there's definitely something wrong. And when you have two clothes of the same type it's almost impossible to tell which one is in the outer layer. Also the fact the it encourages people to think more doesn't make sense at all, since there's nothing realistic about someone who can't see what clothes he's putting on, it's just annoying imo.

May not make sense in real life, but it does for the game mechanic - because there is significant difference in what clothes you carry in an outer and in the inner layer. Additionally, it is possible to tell apart two clothes of the same type through tears, caused by different conditions. And if both items look the same (are similar condition) it doesnt matter much which is one top of which, they both will provide similar protection. Besides, you can also take both of those items off, and put the better peace on the slot that is away from the player because you can see on the HUD next to the clothes their condition. So, this is not an issue at all.

Head piece is probably bugged - it used to be on the left of the interface, then they moved it to the right, so thats probably why it doesnt fit. Not a big issue there - with head piece, you can usually easily tell which is which anyways.

Not sure why they removed the text, saying inner/outer layer on it - but if I were to bet, it was a change to make it more difficult to decide which piece of clothing put where. I dont have a problem with it - paperdoll is a decent indicator.

Yes, it absolutely should be labeled. This is a needless complication, especially given the bug on the headwear set. The devs may have thought it would be intuitive, but I definitely did not find it to be so.
