Adisdas
Guys it would be nice if you would add Wolfs that can be tamed and they would protect you from harm..And for sure more type of animals would be amazing if added in the game..even the baby animals sounds lively..So there you go that's my suggestion hope someone there likes it
Athoen
Hello This could bring some interresting gameplay at the cost of meat. However I am not sure it would be immersive : as far as I know, wolves are not that easy to tame IRL (and do not behave like a dog anyway) AND in TLD their behavior being more hostile... it should make them even more complicated to deal with as an animal companion. Mroz4k
Yes, it would not be immersive at all. Taming of wild animals in general is incredibly difficult. Not saying it is impossible but in normal conditions it almost is. That goes double for the player, who is an every day person, not some born homesteader with years of experience of breaking animals. What I think would make more sense is if you could come across a runaway dog, an animal which used to be tame once but recently, because of the apocalypse, had to escape its previous home and is slowly getting accustomed to the wild life. The animal would be semi-hostile (to emulate the fact it distrusts humans, maybe because someone tried to harm it) but could be won over with some food,be it canned dog food or meat. Such animal could be both tame, and ordered around like a normal dog can be expected to - I imagine you could also train them further. However, the issue comes to mind - what happens to your canine friend on the Aurora? Since it seems to affect canines by making them more hostile, I expect even your pet could attack you on these nights, or it would simply "dissapear" for the duration of it, to emulate it running away for a night hunt, something like people experience when sleepwalking. But I strongly doubt it - the dog could not be used to hunt big game, as the big game would kill it. Maybe they could come to your aid when you are in struggle mode with a wolf, and maybe it could run around (ignoring wolves who would ignore it too), collecting items like sticks, or help hunt for rabbits and other potentional small critters that might be added in time. I would also love to see a "sleigh" dog to be this type of animal, if it was, we could have "transport" in the game. One sleigh dog to drag you, a player who is standing on skis. Thrasador
Both suggestions have been made ad nauseum.... To save you the trouble of a search before suggesting other ideas the game has been in development since about 2013, and most people playing have thought of the following: Craft more clothes, especially a hat. Craft a sled. Craft spears. Craft stone tools Craft flint tools Add flint for fires. Add more animals including: Beavers, squirrels, other bears, moose, horses, probably chickens, groundhogs....probaby others. Smoking food/salting meat Crafting houses/log cabins Adding more guns Adding snowshoes Adding skis I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff....but you get the idea.... Basically to come up with a truly NEW idea for a wish for the game, you are going to have to think waaaaaay outside the box at this point. However why would one bother to do that, many of the above ideas are good ideas that many other people liked and agreed with up to three or four years ago, and they have not been added to the game yet....so it may be an exercise of futility.... Some of them like "adding moose" were even on the road map at one point, but there is no more road map and they are not in the game. So I'm not sure what if anything will be added in the future. The game may be "as is," unless it gets modding support..... Well, with the exception of adding episodes 3-5 of the story. That is still happening. I'm not sure how many more general updates to the game there will be though, if any.... Things they clearly stated they are NOT adding: Going to the bathroom Cannibalism Zombies
Fuarian
Not taming an animal but maybe a stray dog or some form of canine who is not a wolf. Maybe they'll show up once and a while and can be temporarily "tamed" with meat. Maybe a trust sorta thing for the animal.
godhelpme89
I would also love to have a dog companion, but imagine how guilty we're going to feel when it starts whimpering due to hunger or cold?
Thrasador
My prior post may be incorrect based on the recent Dev Diary, the devs claim they want to add more stuff still, before the game is "finished."

With the apocalypse taking care, and people being in complete disarray, some might even be cut off from their homes, I would expect that a lot of dogs would eventually abandon their homes if noone was taking care of them, and odds are many of them would find their way to the wilderness. A once tamed animal, while distrustful of other humans at first, can be eventually warmed up to by careful, non threathening and kind behavior. It is not taming in a way, it is more of forming of a new friendship/partnership. 33 minutes ago, Thrasador said: My prior post may be incorrect based on the recent Dev Diary, the devs claim they want to add more stuff still, before the game is "finished." I think you misunderstand what it means "finished" because you seem to think that once its finished, nothing new will be coming into the game. I find that seriously unlikely. I think the only moment when they will stop "adding" more stuff into the game is if they chose to focus on creating a whole new game altogether, or perhaps create a sequel to the Long Dark. I would be seriously suprised if they chose to stop adding more content into the game at some point unless they decided to discontinue support for it. I think what Raph meant by "finishing the game" means that the game will have enough content and decent enough quality that the team would consider it a finished. This is a signature game for Hinterland - unless they make another game, I doubt they will chose to stop adding more content and fleshing out the game to be perfect, of course they will be adding more episodes later on, but I would think they will continue working on it to keep it alive and prosperous. I do understand why they dont want to continue with the roadmaps, that idea was a mistake in the first place - people consider it a law for things that were to be added to the roadmaps. They said they will be adding more animals in the future. Moose is pretty much confirmed at this point, they even have it animated already, I would be surprised if they chose to call off all that development away. I would imagine the other planned animals like cougar are also likely. Not sure what more to expect, but I am somewhat certain they will want to add more diversity before being satisfied, so maybe we will see different "kinds" of the same animals on top of some new ones. There were talks of grizzly bears in the past.
Thrasador
Beaver, and beaver dams on some of the many water ways would be a pretty big undertaking.....but I would still very much like to see beavers added to ML, FM, BR, PV, and maybe even TWM.... They are a very prominent "Canadian Trapper" species.... They would make some nice waterproof clothes too, if they fleshed out clothes crafting to include much more variety as to which hides can make what....and added hats and things too...
