You're welcome.. he and I have both mentioned it a number of times.

As a further tip, at the end of Unnamed Pond furthest from the Hunter's Blind, there's a broken-off tree, maybe 5-8 metres tall, leaning a little bit, but still upright. It's possible to crouch-climb right to the top of it. It's my favourite spot for shooting that particular bear from.

Trees are more of a @JAFO and @GELtaz thing.....they are Elvish....

I prefer rocks and cliffs because I have Dwarven blood in me....

Hi Ron.. I don't have enough information at this point to comment on @Thrasador's remark. Yes, I did see @Frosty's video, and found it most interesting. He was certainly more fortunate than I.. in my only encounter with Aurora wolves to date, the flashlight on hi-beam didn't even slow the wolf down. Also, Frosty only encountered one wolf. I'm told Aurora wolves often travel in pairs. That was certainly my experience, and the second wolf finished what the first started. Let's just say I wasn't happy with the outcome.

Today on TLD  NATGEO - "A Farmer's Life isn't for Frosty"

Pleasant Valley is the place to be for bountiful game and spacious plains, but has its drawbacks in the form of very nasty weather, large packs of wolves, and more than the average amount of bears

  Lots of deer roaming around

Lots of Wolves too

Can you spot the exact number of wolves?

Coldest weather temperatures I have witnessed so far

Be sure to bundle up nice and warm when crossing those wide fields or you may end up like this

Keep a sharp eye out for those Bunker caches, they could save your life, this one is along the river by The Long Curve location

This Abandoned bunker right by the rope climb up to TWM is a nice spot to use as an outpost - Hunters Blind is nearby

I prefer the Radio Hut on Signal Hill for a base in PV, using the Farm as an outpost for Hunting and Gathering and it isn't a far climb down or back up if you know the right footpath to take

Today on TLD NATGEO - "Frosty's 1st Bear Hunt with a Bow"

This Bear cave is along the river nearby The Long Curve location on the road - This Bear has two different routes that both travel toward and then through PV Farmstead

After crossing the river this Bear isn't shy and heads straight into the fields of the Farmstead doing the short route 

Be careful around the house this Bear likes to hangout in the field close by

Crossing through the field closest to the road this Bear begins the way back home

Sleep tight papa Bear Frosty will see you tomorrow

Today the Bear takes the long route

After crossing river and reaching this fallen tree nearby the Bear is off on their romp throughout the area

Crossing the road the Bear heads toward this barn to hang out for awhile

Leaving the barn the Bear heads right down the road for a stroll

It's getting late and the Bear is starting to head towards PV farmstead now

Here is the Bear within the field at the Farm to hang out for awhile

And here the Bear is going back home for their last night in PV, the Hunt is on the next day

During the long route Frosty lures the Bear into the house area after it leaves the field, time to make that Bear Skin Coat

Today on TLD NATGEO - "Frosty Hunts Bear Turtle Style"

This Bear nearly got Frosty while scouting for the Bears cave, he forgot he had a piece of bait on him while exploring the Upper Falls area and when he was leaving ran into this Big Boy

Where are you going Papa Bear? You forgot your wabbit meat

This Bears cave is located between the Abandoned mine and the Upper falls area in PV

After waking up this Bear likes to check for picnic baskets at this area near the Upper falls. It also has a cave for shelter

The Bear leaves picnic area and begins the trek downhill to The Rural Crossroads

Once within the Rural Crossroads area the Bear likes to hangout for awhile, so watchout when coming down the road folks

Here the Bear is starting to move back home, what you sniffing at there? Not Frosty we hope

When the Bear enters the Rural Crossroads the next day Frosty uses the car for cover after wounding the animal. The Bear starts to head back home but bleeds out soon afterward - looks like Bear steak tonight

Here's the place Frosty has been calling home for awhile. It's a cave located nearby the fork in the road heading towards End of the Road area

Frosty will be heading out on another expedition to track another Bear nearby soon so Stay Tuned for more on TLD NATGEO

Today on TLD NATGEO  - "Bear Den Ambush with Frosty"

This Bear Den is located right along the river close by The Lonely Homestead and has a large thicket of Birch trees nearby.

Uh oh, those are fresh Bear tracks so the bear must be nearby

Here is a shot from the river - the Den is just around the corner to the left, and there goes the Bear through the Birch heading toward the Red Barn area

Frosty got cold and had to duck into the tractor, hopefully the Bear leaves soon

That was close, Frosty really needs to be more careful. The Bear leaves after hanging out at this barn for awhile and starts off toward the Red Barn area

The Bear doesn't get too close to the Red Barn, but close enough so keep your eyes peeled while within that area folks. The Bear paces around this space for awhile  

The Bear takes a long stroll across the fields heading back in the direction of the Den

The weather is taking a turn for the worse as the Bear spends time here for awhile, until heading back through the Birch toward the Den

Home sweet home for the Bear and the day is done just in time as a blizzard is coming soon. Tomorrow Frosty's hunt begins

Frosty sets up with his rifle on a hill nearby the river and waits for the Bear to cross the fields

Frosty makes the shot and tracks down the Bear as it heads back into the fields, but the Bear is not bleeding

Frosty turns to Plan B and heads back to the Den where he waits to ambush the Bear

Ironically the Bear ends up bleeding out very close to the spot Frosty had shot it the 1st time

Here is Frostys camp at The Lonely Homestead not far from the Bear Den. He will be packing up and moving across the river to stay in Draft Dodgers cabin for awhile as he misses a bed terribly at this point Stay tuned for more Bear hunting with Frosty on TLD NATGEO

I have been told but not tested that it is not the shining of the high beam directly on or at the aurora wolf that will slow it down...that usually ends badly. But just like in Story Mode the wolves avoid the pools of light provided by light stanchions.

So you want to aim your light in front of the wolf/wolves between you and the wolf.

This is supposed to deter it.

All I know is that back in August there was more than one occasion when I've used the high beam at the range done in the vid and it scared them off

Perhaps it's different in Story altogether idk but some here on the forum think it's not working properly which isn't unbelievable 

I have also been jumped by a wolf with the High beam activated while aiming it in the opposite direction of the wolf as it was advancing on me from behind

I have used it quite a bit until recently as the latest update made the Aurora more rare of an occasion but based on my experience aiming it directly at the wolf hasn't failed me yet they just stop and growl

@Frosty I learned the hard way that the Farmhouse porch is not a completely trustworthy spot for hunting bears from. The one time I tried I got a couple of good shots in, closing the door in time, but the third time I just managed to close the door, but the bear just managed to get me. I got a great view of the door as the view kept me inside the porch while the bear mauled me.  Fortunately that didn't end me and I got the last laugh as the bear finally succumbed to its wounds.

Scared the bejeezus out of me, though.  And the porch has a great bloodstain on it, too.

Caution must be taken hunting Bears from any spot but I wanted to try the Bow on a Bear and being inexperienced with it I thought that would be a safer spot to test it out

I also learned later on that you can shoot through the windows of the porch which is useful 

A better spot to get that particular Bear would be the downed tree along the road nearby the field which can be accessed from the hill it is collapsed on

Today on TLD NATGEO - "Frosty is Mauled by Bear"

Ron - Attention, what you are about to see is not a re-enactment but footage from our stations photo-journalist and Survivalist Frosty who is in the frozen tundra of the Great Canadian Wilderness - VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED!!!

Frosty has made it to the Draft Dodgers Cabin for a rest, and is preparing to track the final Bear within the PV region

Here is the Bear emerging from its Den nearby the Burned Ridge Cave area

 In Frostys report he claims to have an idea where the Bear is headed next so he deviates from his usual plan and attempts to get ahead of the Bear

Frosty encounters some wolves en route to intercept the Bear and cracks a flare to bypass them, just making it safely to the area the Bear arrives to next which is a Hunters Blind not far from its Den

The weather is turning for the worse and Frosty decides to track the Bear the next day and do it right this time

Frosty is bundled up nice and warm but it is particularly cold out today but that doesn't deter him

Here we go again lets see how Frosty makes out this time as the Bear heads toward the Hunters Blind

Here we are back at the Hunters Blind where the Bear paces about for awhile

The Bear trots right into Skeeter's Ridge to sniff out food and then begins to head back toward its Den

The Bear Den area is right over that ridge, the hunt is on tomorrow as Frosty prepares to take it down at the Hunters Blind

Ron - By the beard of Zeus that was terrifying!!! But Frosty has survived the attack and is recuperating at an Abandoned Bunker nearby.

Today on TLD NATGEO -  "Frosty Gets His Groove Back"

Frosty returns to Desolation Point to forge arrows for his expedition to Timber Wolf Mountain, and after taking down some deer and clearing out the wolves, he finds a Bear Den near the Broken Bridge

The Bear awakes and begins the journey down to the icy coast nearby Hibernia Processing where it patrols for awhile

 The Bear isn't happy with the weather and returns to its Den to sleep awhile longer 

Once back down on the coast where it sniffs out food for a time, the Bears next move surprises Frosty

Frosty expects the Bear to go up the hill onto the road where he has seen the Bear patrolling the entrance area into Hibernia before, but this sneaky Bear knows its way around here very well and heads up this hill right into Hibernia Processing  

The Bear begins patrolling the entire perimeter of the structure

The Bear does a couple laps around the building and leaves the way it had entered

Here is a shot from the bridge leading into Hibernia, the Bear is heading back to the coast nearby the road

The Bear goes up the hill onto the road and hangs out at the entrance into Hibernia for awhile, and when calling it a day returns to its Den for the night. Tomorrow will be the day Frosty makes his move, but he hasn't decided where he will strike at the Bear yet so he sleeps on it and will make his decision in the morning

Frosty is still shaken up from his encounter with the last Bear he hunted in Pleasant Valley, but he has studied the Bears routine carefully and is confident his plan will work. He decides that the road will be the ambush site to takedown the Bear

The arrow struck the Bear in the face and it has bleed out faster than Frosty has ever seen before

The region has been cleared from the threat of the Bear and Frosty breathes a sigh of relief within The Riken as he makes his plans to conquer Timber Wolf Mountain, so Stay Tuned for more on TLD NATGEO

Today on TLD NATGEO's Thanksgiving Day Special - "Frosty Reaches the Vertical Limit"

Timber Wolf Mountain - Come for the view and stay for the serenity you will experience while surrounded by the majestic mountain peaks of the region Of course you will also be sharing with the many wolves that give this mountain its name, but no region is complete without the calls of the wild    

Drink some herbal tea before bed, enjoy the energy boost of a hot coffee once awake, and ensure to grab that bedroll before venturing out to conquer this mountain, or you will soon find yourself in an unfortunate position halfway up the climb

No matter the struggle while surmounting this challenge you will be rewarded once atop The Summit and the bounty within the cargo containers of this plane are revealed, just don't forget to bring your Hacksaw

The scenery of the region from The Summit is its own reward, but all those MRE's and Crackers have given Frosty a decent Thanksgiving dinner while enjoying the view during his meal

The greatest challenge may be deciding on what gear to bring down the mountain when you decide to leave, so travelling as light as possible before making the climb isn't a bad idea. Frosty took a gamble and loaded up to 55kg of equipment before risking the descent down the mountain facing Crystal Lake, but despite getting off course he managed to reach the planes Engine location within the Echo Ravine with only a sprained ankle and deposit what he couldn't carry for the walk home inside a cargo container for later retrieval 

Frosty is all geared up comfortably now, and is prepared to hunt down the Four Bears he has discovered within the region

The Mountaineer's Hut on Crystal Lake certainly has its charm, but it could use some roof repairs as Frosty needs to bundle up in his Bear Skin coat every night to avoid the dangers of the low temperatures on the mountain

Thanks mate I fear the Bears which is why I started going to look for them first

I feel better knowing where they are and their routes within the region and it has assisted myself in avoiding them when I need to
