Saves for Multiple Steam accounts on same PC

I recently added my own steam account to my PC so that my son and I could both use Steam at once (on separate PCs)

After installation, the game discovered the existing data and game was already installed so it did not create a separate data space for my Steam account.

Shouldn't a separate Steam account also have a separate save space?

It's not a big deal since there are still multiple save slots however if we purchase the game twice, it should be separate. Well we do have two PCs so we can run separately...

Do you and your son use separate Windows logins on the PC, or share the same Windows user account? Because I'd expect to see this problem if you share the same login on the PC.
