I believe that certain buildings should have weaker doors, when entered while being chased by a bear, the beast can bash it down, wolves will simply scratch at it. Thoughts?

Bears are big and very, very strong.  If a door is too weak to keep a bear out, you holding is just a great way to get shredded along with the door.

Doors and gates do not stop bears from entering, they stop them from trying to enter. Other than the damn, I don't think there is a building in the game that has a door a bear could not break down if he decided to. Hell, they don't even need doors.
