We have never seen a world map and we just assume it is canada where we are playing. So here is the plot twist for the story:

It actually is modern day westeros we are playing in and winter has come. The end boss in story mode then is naturally the night king riding a giant ice dragon. For imersion they should bring in wolly mamoths of course. With time the frozen corpses will come alive and attack. It all makes sence.. the long night=the long dark.

Find the de-extinction laboratory,  free the baby cloned mammoth.  He is now your friend forever.

Trappers Cabin gets a resident cat that likes to sleep on the shelf above the workbench.  He incessantly wants in or out and will occasionally bring you a rabbit, particularly if you provide the odd fish.

A new skill emerges - The Crow Whisperer -  it has no evident purpose whatsoever, but they  ride around on your shoulder and generally follow you around.

You find an entire case of Hot-Shot chemical warmers and spend the next two weeks toasty as you please.

A new craftable becomes available - the Deer Bone Flute - after 50 hours of practice you can play haunting melodies that cure cabin fever instantly.   It makes the baby mammoth trumpet and jump around and the crows assemble into a murderous mass that frightens the cat.

With all the new Battle Royale games (like Fortnite and PUBG, any player??), TLD should have “The Long Dark Battle Royale”. TLD pvp! People running around with rifles and bows, dodging (or killing) wolves, bears, and players. Maintain your normal stats, but seek out other players and climb to the top, and come out as the true survivor! :D

You discover a case of 18 year old single malt whisky under the floorboards at Trappers.

You raise a glass to The Trapper who had such exquisite taste.

After some sampling you note the following effects:

  1. You are more frightening to the wolves
  2. In a pinch - it's an antiseptic - but a bit of a waste
  3. You seem to gain a Berserker melee buff after about three drams
  4. Your recollection of old sentimental songs and the amazing quality of your singing voice increases exponentially with each glass

+1

Voice recognition, you have to sing. some wolves become hypnotized and follow along without aggro
