diffeq
My testing shows that time to melt and boil is not constant: Furnace @ 294 F = 1.32 gal / 150 min = 0.0088 gal/min = 114 min/gal Campfire @ 55.8 F = 1.32 gal / 75 min = 0.0176 gal/min = 57 min/gal I wonder how it actually works. sarudak
Is it faster when you're outside because it's easier to get the snow? Does it only affect melting or boiling also?
selfless
Fire burn time is not an accurate clock. It will magically burn longer whenever the ambient temperature shifts. The only consistent clock is the survival time in your logbook.
cekivi
Welcome to the forums @diffeq! In my experience boiling water is fairly consistent at 1 hour to melt and boil 2 L of water.
