How do you Save game?

So yeah... loving the game.

Stupid question... how do you save?

I had assumed it was an autosave on quit due to the lack of a save button anywhere,but when I try to load nothing happens.

It saves when you sleep... however, if you die it's permadeath and your save spot is erased.
