I'd like one to get back the arrow I lost on Pleasant Valley Farm's roof :$. But otherwise, I don't really think it as utility, doesn't it?

I think you should need to use both hands to carry it, and you walk very slow, imagine the uses for it!

As a shield? a weapon? :D

On a more serious tone, maybe for accessing some unreachable places, or some safe ones. But that doesn't add that much of gameplay to be worth implementing imo ^^'

Possible tree stands for hunting, especially elevated shots for bears who charge after being shot at.

While the idea is good, accessing roofs or other places where animals can't reach could quickly break the game - I remember breaking most hunting-challenged in Far Cry 3 by climbing up a roof or a vehicle and taking shots at increasingly confused animals that noticed I was there but couldn't find a path to me, which made those challenges boringly easy (hey, don't blame me, I wanted a new wallet).

So, if this is added it needs to be balanced in some way or another:

  • New pathfinding AI and climbing animations for animals. This is actually a bad solution since wolves aren't really known for their climbing skills. Dunno about bears.
  • Inability to use weapons on elevated areas. This is very simple to program, but it seems forced, and, if we're honest, silly.
  • Only for indoor-areas. This actually make some sort of sense since putting a ladder on snow is a one-way ticket to a painful fall. However, the usefulness of the ladder would be greatly diminished since there is nothing elevated to access in the first place.
  • None of the above, but wildlife all around notices you and begins circling you. This would add some real difficulty but it also seems forced.

One of the possible animals that were mentioned to be added in wss a mountain lion (cougar). That'd be your main threat in a tree blind or on a house..
