SzalonyNiemiec
Pasta as a food item, that can be found in homes and stores. I don't know how realistic it would be to find potatoes in this region, but they could appear on the fields of pleasant valley, or stored in burlap sacks in basements. Both Pasta and potatoes should be edible raw, but should inflict a "malnutrition" health deficit, which impairs your movement and carry capacity. When cooked, both should be perfectly safe to eat and provide more calories than raw. Cooking pasta or potatoes should require water. * could be that I already posted this, but I had a connection error
cekivi
I like the idea but you really need to cook this stuff. Raw pasta and raw potatoes are excellent ways to give yourself an upset stomach if you eat too much at once.

sir ice
The pasta is clever, but not sure about potato either. I must remind myself... its a fricken potato! There should be a single potato in the barn. ONE SINGLE POTATO.
cekivi
A lot of the houses have cold rooms and pantries. Both good locations to keep potatoes. Especially since they're a staple. They keep well, store well, and provide a lot of energy.
FatheriatorCZ
this would be excelent way how to make long lasting food (good seald jar with dried pasta lasts looooooong time). And potatoes are quite nutritious and (at least in Europe) everybody eats them at least once per week so there would be atleast some of them in the houses. AHGoodwin
I certainly like the idea of being able to find more variety of real food and less candy and granola bars, not to mention the extreme popularity of peaches. Granted I love the peaches for their hunger and thirst all in one but I find it hard to believe this many people had peaches just laying around. danicusrex
Mmm... potatoes are a good idea. They're incredibly nutritious and store well. Finding a stockpile of potatoes would be a gold mine.

Wastelander
Raw potatos are actually slightly toxic, but yes, when cooked are (naturally, why am I even saying this) very nutritious. How well they keep is entirely dependant on how they're kept - best setting is dark and dry, which is usually the case in a cellar - in Germany we even have special "Kartoffelkeller", potato cellars. Traditionally, potato juice has also been used as a remedy for an upset stomach As for pasta, that's a good idea. Would need to be cooked as well (try eating raw pasta, I dare you), but the uncooked version just doesn't spoil, especially when the air is really dry.
