Too many fires

I have been building a fire in the same spot and found that now when I start a new fire I can't find my lit fire to click on it. I can only find the burnt out fire. Not sure if this a real issue but I have a nice little set up, where I can start a fire away from the wind.

I agree with this feedback.  Prior to v340T, I could find the current fire by targetting the model of the burning fire amongst all the burnt out ones.  Beginning with testing for the Penitent Scholar I couldn't do that any more.  But I could target "beneath"  my fire spot (closer to me, I guess) and get the active fire.

Now it's super hard to target the active fire.  It's like the burnt out fires are Z-ordered to be closer to my cursor than the active fire and thus block our ability to target the active fire.  I've lost fires because I couldn't target them again to add fuel (or otherwise use them).

This is a real problem for fires built outdoors.  Since burnt out fire models are immortal, many players try to stack them up to prevent covering the entire area with burnt out fires.

Burnt out fires still don't disappear after a while? I hope this gets fixed again soon.

Nope still immortal.  They made a change to the model for the burned out fire a few weeks ago, and that was really helpful because it was shorter than the active fire.  That made targetting a lot easier.   But now that burned out fires sort to the "top" of what your cursor can target (like a Stick in a pile of Cedar logs), it's super hard to target the active fire at all.

I've wondered why it is that I cannot build a fire on-top a previous fire site. I mean, if you wanted to be nit-picky about it you could force people to "shovel out the ashes" or whatever and incur some time/calorie hit...but otherwise it is just plain silly (imo)....

That's actually quite a nice idea - I suggest you go and post on the wishlist subforum.

This is something that I noticed on my first play through, and has always bothered me, I knew that I wouldn't be the only one. I just think i have accepted it as part of the game and forgotten about it. There defiantly should be someway of using the same location consecutively, or even to build a more permanent one if needed. Obviously balanced out with them being covered by snow or something after a blizzard or a few days of snow?
