Pilgrim changes to Stalker [Post Update]

When starting a new game, I set the difficulty to Pilgrim. Then I choose my map, character, and name my save file. When I get into the game, however, the difficulty of my save is stalker. If I save and exit, the save file itself tells me. That, and ya know, theres wolves present. Im playing on the Xbox One, and frequent reddit, nobody seemed to have this issue yet. Thinking maybe they just havent played on a pilgrim yet.

This happens every single time, even after a reset of the console. It definitely started happening after the newest update, the Penitent Scholar.

Update: I deleted all the save files, and it loaded up a Pilgrim game just fine. However, it seems every Sandbox I start says "Sandbox 88", and when I go to start one in Stalker, it changes back to Pilgrim in game, and saved over the first game I had. Something is VERY buggy here......

We've been trying to reproduce this locally and have had no luck. Could I get you to try deleting the local saves for TLD from the Xbox system menu? It sounds like something has gone bad with your saves or possibly hard drive. It's almost like they are not able to write correctly.

Ive done that. Ive also uninstalled and reinstalled, and cleared them from cloud storage. Ive also cleared the consoles cache storage by hard resetting. When I clear the game completely, it defaults to Voyager when im actually into the game, no matter what I select, which is the game mode thats selected when you first boot up the game. 

 

Im also not the only person experiencing this, if you go over to Reddit.

Apart from that nonsense ^^^ Its funny cuz mine wont let me choose female... Havent tried the whole difficulty thing cuz im always playing S mode tho now that I think of it none of the new games I played tried to change the difficulty setting... Instead the game refuses to let me play as Astrid... Thankfully I didnt delete (or nothing happened to) the file Im playing now... A file I made in preparation for this update in which I am playing as her.. Thus the importance I do not let this avatar die so easily

EDIT: I just tried to launch a Pilgrim mode for poops and giggles and as above stated it auto converts to stalker... And I figure Ill try troubleshooting as requested above just after I die in current game.. @200 days once again and I aint ready to start over just yet

I really hope theyre fixing this, and dont just assume its an isolated issue.

@JoeyRevolver187 I can personally tell you its fixable.... Unfortunately you have to delete your save files as stated above... Start on game -- hit Manage Game -- then it should be on the screen where it shows to Uninstall or whatever and "save files" or the like essentially to the right of the uninstall option... Just delete the saves and reserve, itll ask on console or everywhere. I hit everywhere and now difficulties are separate once again as well as male is male and female is female

Ive done this. Several times. Issue is still there........ Ive even cleared the system cache.

I have a sneaky feeling I know the issue, and why its only happening for a very select group of people. Im in the Xbox Preview Program. Right now, theres a bug with that, and I think its making the cloud saves messed up. Thus, making this long Dark issue messed up, because the issue seems to be residing with a bugged cloud save. Ill report back as soon as my console is fully reverted back to factory defaults.!!

JoeyRevovler187 - That's something I've been considering as well. Something certainly seems wrong with a small sample of Users cloud storage. So far we've not been able to reproduce these issues on a Dev Kit (the only way we get useful information) and this would account for that.

Only way I know how to answer this question is I bought the game preview for TLD from Xbox One Game Market Place....

 

Additionally I actually neglected to revisit this thread and clarify after running a few more tests of trying to start new games on different difficulties, again resulted in Stalker games. The few I did before just coincidentally went to proper difficulty selected

Update: I cleared out my saves and cache from Xbox menu, like I did before, once again. Result: Started 5 new games back to back to back... First 3 were each respective difficulty, while switching male and female for each respective game. 1) Pilgrim Male = Loaded up Pilgrim Male; 2) Voyaguer Female = Loaded Voyaguer Female; 3) Stalker Male = Loaded Stalker Male. 4 and 5 went just like 1 - 3 no issues. Although I wonder if play time in between each file might have different effects. I dont know something definitely strange is going on. Oh the sandbox numbers are all adding up numerically as they should as well. (Seeing as how prior to me clearing out saves and cache the numbers were stuck at 4 for some reason)

Ive spoken with people who are having this issue that arent part of the preview program, so I have a sneaky feeling that the issue is affecting people even outside of the program. However, I still believe the issue is with cloud saves, and the preview program isnt making that any better, thus why im having a harder time.

Also, Survivalist, if you were in the Xbox Preview Program, youd know because you would have had to opt in yourself. But you can check by looking in the Apps section for Preview Program Dashboard, or something similar.
