Corrupted Save

I just experienced my first lost save  75+ days. 

Environment - Xbox one v .338

1. slept, then waited for save icon to complete animation. 

2. Quit game from game menu.

3. Switched to a new account and new user played. 

4. Next time I started game my save showed but failed to open. 

5 restarted and save was no longer there.

6. Unplugged Xbox, waited and rebooted. Still not there. 

7. Deleted local save and synced. Nope. 

Not much to go on. I hope it's fixed soon.

Any possibility of asking Xbox live to turn off cloud saves temporarily to see if the issue goes away?

Sorry to hear that, but thank you for reporting - Where did you sleep? Do you recall anything else that you did prior to that? Would like to see if there is anything we may able to deduce from the events leading up to the save. 

And no, we can't ask that of MS.

Slept at the Trappers Cabin in ML. I can't remember anything in particular before sleeping. 

Maybe it would help for us to know the sequence of events for cloud saves and syncs.

Is the save synced to the cloud at the same time as the save occurs locally? 

If for instance I open my game to find the save won't open, has it already been synced to the cloud and both saves are corrupted?

I would be happy to try any ideas you have to try to reproduce the defect.

just like the OP, I too have had a save corrupted, two actually , this is not a complaint as this is my first alpha of this kind and I enjoying the changes and unpredictability but check this out, try not to weep for me:

first time, got to 93 days, saved in PV farmstead , had the place well stocked. I AM A BIG FAN OF LEAVING CERTAIN KINDS OF ITEMS ON THE FLOOR!! wood, water, that kind of thing for convenience and cupboard space. Dont know if that makes I difference. This save was arround before and after a major update , the first one after I started playing in January. Same as OP tried to open my save and got a clunk clunk noise, then rebooted and save gone. Sad face.

second time: Got to 91 days, ouch, lived mostly in trappers cabin in ML, then did a house move, took ages, and three stims lol, moved to the farmstead again, I think I rested this time to save , same thing with the clunk clunk then save totally gone. Again, this save was arround before and after the last big update.

I have since reinstalled the full game and then started again, hopefully it doesn't happen again, but hey, its alpha, its all practice for the full build right? Imagine how good at the game we will be compared with newcomers, we win, ha.

I'm  not going to get into the details of the Xbox Ones save system, for obvious reasons, but really we don't have much control over how the Xbox saves, or where to.

Also no need to try to reproduce the issue, we get literally zero information from retail Xbox Ones.Most of the time issues like you saw occur because of something generating bad data. Part of our new test branch strategy will help expose less issues to Xbox One users.
