MueckE
I am not sure, but i think i read somewhere that NPC's will be in sandbox in the near future. So i was thinking how it will be. I would be disappointed if NPC's just would be some sort of threat like wolves or bears. I wish that there is interaction with them and the difficulty is a moral choice. Example: Imagine you go to Camp Office and looking for shelter but it has already been occupied by other survivors. Now you can kill them and take the place, just leave risking to die outside or negotiate about food/shelter ... Or maybe they are agreesive in the first place and attack you to get your stuff .. Maybe its the other way around and someone is knocking on your door and is asking for help and maybe he will steal your loot or try to kill you after a while, or not? I think this would bring a whole new level to the game. Most of postapocalyptic storys focus on this human behavior/moral in these situations, and to be honest, thats what makes these storys interesting (not the zombies). I am a little bit concerned how hinterland is going to do it. Cannibalism was always a no-go for them and i am afraid the NPC's will be more like zombies/robotics, one dimesional "things" to deal with. Would you like to see NPC's acting like wolves/bears (or the opposite, friendly but boring) or would you like to see unpredictable, potentially dangerous, potentially nice humans? Wastelander
I'm all for the unpredictable, potentially dangerous, potentially nice humans because that's what humans are in the first place. If they are just another threat, they're just.. shallow and not worth the programming resources. If they're always friendly, they're boring. I'd like to make their attitude also a bit dependant on how you approach them - made yourself noticeable with a light source and have your weapon shouldered? They'll think twice of being hostile, since you aren't a threat and might be more useful to them when alive. Sneak up on them with a weapon ready? Makes you seem reeeeeal suspicious buddy. All in all, you've got some very good ideas there and I'm completely for them. +
Salty Crackers
I still believe NPCs should be a rare encounter. Part of the game's atmosphere is that you're alone, and having too many people might ruin that.
