Tbone555
i think that emergency stims are a bit too common in this game. the chances of finding an emergency steroid injection in a random lone cabin in the middle of the woods, no doubt previously owned by someone living completely off the grid is a slim to none. i think emergency stims should only be found in a few certain locations. my suggestion is - the carter hydro dam, the ranger lookout towers, the prepper caches, and hibernia processing. this item should definitely be a lot less common than it is. putting them in a cargo container from the plane is DEFINITELY out of the question. too many people abuse the stims, using them to get from a to b quickly. making this item a lot less common would be a good way of reducing this. there should also be negative effects of abusing the emergency stim. I'm not exactly sure on the type of steroid we're talking about. i haven't done much research, but no human being should be able to inject any kind of emergency steroid into their body 6 times in a row with absolutely no negative effects. Wastelander
I agree with all of this. Most likely, emergency stims are somehow used to induce adrenaline (or a derivate of such) into the bloodstream - too much of it and you get a heart attack. Also, they're mostly used by first-response medics, so they should actually not be found outside of ambulances and clinics, which aren't present in the game yet. Also, it seems a lot of people have left the general playing area, considering that there are way more houses/shacks than corpses around, and if I was fleeing something disastrous, these stims are what I would take with me. Scyzara
While I agree that the number of emergency stims should be reduced, I personally would prefer them to spawn in randomized locations. Knowing exactly where stims are to be expected every time (like it's e.g. the case with the magnifying lens for me) takes away the joy of seeking them imo.^^ In my opinion, the greatest problem regarding emergency stim numbers is the fact that they are currently not only to be found physically lying somewhere in the world, but that they are also random loot spawns from first aid kits and the medical cargo container. That's the reason why some people (who are just lucky and pull them out of first aid kits nonstop) find extremely many emergency stims whereas others only find only a small fraction of that abundance. I personally would thus like it much better if stims were removed from the first aid kit and cargo container random loot tables and rather be physically spawned at random locations in the world instead. Preferably only one stim per map (at least in Stalker mode).
Aelaera
In a Hunted run alone I used four stims within a very short time period of each other (literally from Derailment to Trapper's). In real life my heart would have exploded (okay not quite... but still.) I don't know why so many people have e-stims just hanging out in their First Aid cupboards, but I agree with OP's original statement. It makes sense for them to be in certain areas, but as Scyzara said, making them a constant spawn takes away the fun. If there were multiple locations to find them (Ranger's Outpost/Cabin/Hydro Dam for ML, Gas Station/the old house on the lake that I don't remember the name of/vehicles in CH, Homestead or perhaps even out amongst the fields (it could be realistic for a farmer to keep an e-stim handy) in PV, etc.) it would force players to look around more... and also be more cautious about using possibly the last stim. Tbone555
you do all make very good points, and i agree with all of them. my excitement for finding the hunting rifle has completely vanished, because i've found all of the possible spawn locations, and when in doubt i just walk around and check all of them. and i imagine it would be the same for the e stims. so that settles that issue. they should remain randomly spawned, because as Wastelander stated, most people in this situation would just loot medical supplies and food and haul ass to safety, and it is realistic in this way. but as scyzara stated, making them a random spawn in med kits and cargo containers puts WAY too many out into the world, and this number really needs to be reduced. and i personally think there REALLY needs to be a negative effect to abusing the stims. heart attack would be the most probable one. take two within minutes of eachother, your character collapses into the snow and makes painful, troubled grunts. youd hear his unnaturally rapid heartbeat for a minute as he grabs at his chest, then eventually his breath slows down, his heart stops beating, and he dies. then a message comes up telling you that you died from emergency medical stim abuse, or something along those lines. That's not how heart attacks work, and in the conditions you face in TLD, a heart attack is fatal. I'd prefer them to give something like cardiac arrythmia (is this the right word? I'm a historian, not a doctor ), so while it does give you an instant condition boost it also slows you down and caps both your fatigue-meter and overall condition at 75%. Tbone555
well i dont know the first thing about heart failure, i havent taken anatomy yet i was just thinking "yeah, that would be a good way to punish those stim-abusing jerks" xD
Wastelander
I'm not blaming you, heart failure is one of those things I figure I wouldn't need to know about, considering how much existential dread the modern world comes with already
