What I'd change

Hello.

My first post here - first of all sorry for my poor English. Game is fantastic. Longest period survived was 51 days for me I was killed by can of sardines :)

What is my opinion? The Lady is eating to much :) I understand calories - but try to eat 3 kgs of meat :); I'd like to have possibility maybe to draw a map or find a map of area in some random places? (compass cause of electomagnetic storm will not work)

Why for example character can not wear sweater, fleece and jacket, but only sweater and jacket ? Easiest mode is unbalanced - enough is not being attacked by wolves - it is to warm, too much stuff and to much food. After 2 days u r Rambo ;) and game is boring (had rifle, 30kgs of food and top clothes).

I crafted wolf jacket and did not use it - it required wolf pelt for repairs - too much work with it - besides top jacket is almost as good as it is.

Maybe there would be possibity to add some ingredients and let character to cook her own dishes?

Maybe it would be good to add special skills for characters - man - increased capacity, higher stamina, better fixing etc - lady better repairs fo clothes, better cooking, better healing etc.

One thing about food - if we walk with it - it is - 20 usually - fresh food should not be demmaged that fast - low temperature is good for food. When you are inside house and you make a fire - it should --> higher temerature - it should be damgaed faster.
That is all :)
Thanks for possibility to play this different game

Welcome to the forums Andrew!

Some of the things you mentioned are going to be addressed. I'd recommend reading the roadmap on the game's homepage to see what Hinterlands plan to do with the game over the next 6 to 18 months. Also, if Pilgrim is too easy I'd recommend trying Voyager.

As some people have already said, many of these ideas are addressed or will be addressed through the course of development - I generally play voyager but I do have a pilgrim game too, helps me explore and familiarise myself with the map and generally just live without looking over my shoulder ;) but I also get frustrated with the fact that my character does not really get cold, hungry and tired much and would like to see the only real difference between pilgrim and voyager being the animal behaviour.

With regards to characters and specific abilities, I have thought this too - however, I would not want the female characters skills to be so gender specific, Im a woman and the only thing I can sew with any competence is plaits in horses - give me clothes and I would cause more damage than good!  This is the modern day, and any skills should reflect that, there is no reason why she could not be a wizz with a bow!  You never catch me sewing or creating healing potions - but fixing cars - fences - building stone walls - that I could do without a problem. :)

I advocated that approach myself to differentiate between the characters a while back. While gender informs an individual's character it is far from the sole defining trait :)

I'm hopeful this will be the case in story mode since Astrid is a doctor (better healing?) and Mackenzie is a pilot (better repair?).

I agree with this. Skills should not be gender-specific. The internet would rip Hinterland apart at the very mention of this, and there's numerous real-life examples of women excelling in traditionally 'male' things and vice-versa. A good friend of mine from Sweden actually made it to the nationals in archery. I can sew and cook pretty well. My mother is extremely good at driving large vehicles. My best (male) friend is a Kindergarten teacher.

I'd like some character-specific skills though, as defined by their backgrounds as @cekivi pointed out, but those should be one-time bonuses with the learning speed and skill cap being the same for both.
